小号手ROY HARGROVE，作为顶级乐手和格莱美获奖者，已经在当今爵士乐坛中拥有者稳固的地位。作为近20张专辑中的领导者（David“Fathead”Newman的早期狂热爱好者），以及当今乐坛不可或缺的Sideman之一，已经受邀参与了许多专辑的录制。其中包括与不同时代的杰出人物合作，如Sonny Rollins，Herbie Hancock，Roy Haynes，Dizzy Gillespie，Oscar Peterson；并向全世界介绍了他的突破性Hip Hop / Jazz乐团——RH FACTOR。随着他在全球各地的舞台上让成千上万的乐迷为他的音乐所倾倒的同时，Roy在一系列广泛的项目上也留下了不可磨灭的印记。

With nearly 20 recordings as a leader, and many more as an indispenseable sideman, Roy,( an early devotee of legendary David “ Fathead ” Newman), has played and recorded with luminaries such as Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Roy Haynes, Dizzy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, and introduced his Groundbreaking Hip Hop / Jazz group, RH FACTOR to the world, while leaving indelible imprints on a vast array of projects, as he continually flexes his musical chops to thrilled audiences the world over.

At 45, trumpeter Roy Hargrove has firmly established himself as among the premier players in jazz and beyond. Ever-stretching into more challenging and colorful ways to flex his musical chops, Hargrove has left indelible imprints in a vast array of artful settings. During his tenure on the Verve label alone, he has recorded an album with a hand-picked collection of the world’s greatest tenor saxophonists (With the Tenors of Our Time), an album of standards with strings (Moment to Moment) and, in 2003, introduced his own hip hop/jazz collective The RH Factor with the groundbreaking CD Hard Groove (swiftly followed by the limited edition EP, Strength). Hargrove has also won Grammy® Awards for two vastly different projects. In1997, Roy’s Cuban-based band Crisol (including pianolegend Jesus “Chucho” Valdes and wonder drummer Horatio “El Negro” Hernandez) won the Best Latin Jazz Performance Grammy for the album Habana. And in 2002, Hargrove, Herbie Hancock and Michael Brecker won Best Instrumental Jazz Album, Individual or Group, for their three-way collaboration Directions in Music.

“Being a musician is a gift,” says Hargrove, who is arguably the hardest working and most active musician in the jazz world—whether he’s on tour with his quintet, RH Factor, Big Band, or doing guest appearances at concerts ranging from hip-hop-meets-jazz summit in Paris with legendary jazz bassist Ron Carter and French rapper MC Solaar to the September 10, 2010 celebration of Sonny Rollins’ 80th birthday at the Beacon. “I want to make music that lasts awhile, to make an album that people can enjoy for a lot longer than one month.”
