美国驻广州总领事馆邀请您来参加摄影展并一起讨论”黑人的命至关重要——起源与演化“（BlackLives Matter: Its Origin and Its Evolution）。#BlackLivesMatter 并不只是一个话题，更是一项活动。我们邀请的摄影师Umar Ali 将与大家分享身为一名艺术家在美国参与该活动的见解，并向大家介绍活动中的新闻图片的背景。

Joinus for a photography exhibition and discussion on #BlackLivesMatter and theevents surrounding its creation as not only a hashtag, but a movement.Photographer Umar Ali will share his perspective as an artist on the events inthe U.S. during that time and provide some context for the scenes you saw inthe news.

Note:This event is conducted in English and free of charge. You will be asked toshow your ID card or passport for admission. Children must be accompanied by anadult. English Corner: Tribute to Black HistoryMonth

Black History Month was the inspiration ofCarter G. Woodson, a noted scholar and historian, who instituted Negro HistoryWeek in 1926. He chose the second week of February to coincide with thebirthdays of President Abraham Lincoln and the abolitionist Frederick Douglass.The celebration was expanded to a month in 1976, the nation’s bicentennial.Each February, Black History Month honors the struggles and triumphs ofmillions of American citizens over the most devastating obstacles: slavery,prejudice, poverty as well as their contributions to the nation’s cultural andpolitical life. Come and Join us to learn about famous African Americans andtheir contributions to our society.
