#USHolidays# The idea for designating a special day to celebrate Fathers in America came about shortly after the declaration of an official Mother’s Day. Although support for Father’s Day began in the 1920s, it did not become an official holiday until 1972. Father’s Day is observed every year in America on the third Sunday in June. This year it will be celebrated on June 18 – this weekend! Many families celebrate by cooking Dad’s favorite meal, spending time together, and giving gifts.
