Richard Avedon is widely considered one of America’s finest photographers.  From his start as a young kid in New York City taking identity card photos of soldiers to the end of his career as one of the world’s most celebrated fashion photographers, Avedon was deeply fascinated by people.  His work includes exhibitions at prominent museums and graced the pages of many of America’s most famous publications. He traveled the American West taking portraits of regular people against a stark white backdrop, and he also photographed many well-known celebrities in the second half of the 20th Century. Avedon is often credited with blurring the line between ‘art’ and ‘commercial’ photography.
