欢迎各位英语老师参加2018年6月1日由美国驻华大使馆地区英语项目办公室（Regional English Language Office）举办的英语教师沙龙。本次沙龙由Dan主持。他将与大家一起探讨元认知阅读策略。此活动免费面向各学段英语教师及教研人员，但需预约。活动限25人，实名注册，报完即止。

Workshop on: Metacognitive Reading Strategies

When students are able to use reading strategies effectively, current research shows that they are more satisfied with reading in a foreign language, they are able to comprehend more of the texts, and they do better on exams.  So, the question for teachers is:  how can we effectively teach reading strategies when students are reading in a foreign language?  This roundtable will discuss these issues and present 8 reading strategies for foreign language readers and also, present 2 methods for teaching strategies in the foreign language class.

Trainer Bio

Daniel Forman is a participant in the English Language Fellow Program, a U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs exchange program. This program brings highly talented American professionals in the field of English language teaching to work in host institutions around the world for a period of 10 months. Daniel is currently hosted by the Beijing Institute of Education.  Before his fellowship, he worked at the American English Institute at the University of Oregon.  He received his master’s degree in TESOL (English Teaching) from the University of Texas and has over 7 years of teaching experience.  He has interests in vocabulary teaching, autonomous learning, and assessment.

This event is ONLY open to English teachers and professionals. The seminar will be conducted in English. Audio or video recording of the program will not be permitted.

You must bring both your valid photo ID and registration confirmation page in order to get into BAC. Large bags or laptops will not be allowed into BAC for this event. Please do NOT wait in the visa applicant line. Please wait in line by the RED sign saying “For ACS services, please enter here.” at the East Gate of the embassy.

Please arrive 30 minutes earlier ahead of the start time. You will NOT be admitted if you arrive half an hour after the program has started.
