For people who are familiar with US-PRC relations, one of the most iconic moments is President Nixon’s arrival at the Beijing Airport and his enthusiastic handshake with Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai in 1972.

Ambassador Nicholas Platt was a member of President Nixon’s delegation and later served as a diplomat in the U.S Liaison Office in Beijing.
