Unleashing the Future: Inside the 2023 Technology & Innovation Summit

经历了三年的不确定性，若问在展望未来时能确定什么，那就是：有能力应对挑战的组织才能在激烈的行业竞争中得以发展。在此背景下，中国美国商会于9月19日举办了年度科技创新峰会，主题为"遇见未来：科技赋能理论成为现实"。今年峰会深入探讨了当下最紧迫、最具变革性的议题。

In a world marked by three years of turbulence, one thing remains certain: organizations ready to embrace challenges are best positioned to serve their customers and stakeholders effectively. Against this backdrop, AmCham China convened our annual Technology and Innovation (T&I) Summit on September 19th, under the theme "Unleashing the Future: Empowering Innovation from Theory to Reality." This year's summit delved into the most pressing and transformative topics of our time.

峰会在商会副总裁马琼娜的欢迎词下拉开帷幕。马琼娜介绍了科技创新峰会是商会于2018年推出的全新年度标志性活动，现已成为一项年度传统。她强调，该峰会为各类企业提供了一个宝贵平台，助其交流颠覆性技术在不同行业（包括制造业，汽车行业，能源，生命健康，金融服务，市场营销，零售等）中的创新型应用。在介绍了当天的主题后，马琼娜对本次峰会的赞助商（Meta, 英特尔，慧与，默克）表达了衷心的感谢。

The summit kicked off with a warm welcome from Claire Ma, Vice President at AmCham China. Ma emphasized the legacy of the T&I Summit, which has become an annual tradition since its inception in 2018. She highlighted the event's role as a vital platform for cross-sector knowledge sharing, uniting diverse industries such as manufacturing, automobile, energy, healthcare, financial services, marketing, and retail. Ma introduced the day's theme and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the event sponsors: Meta, Intel, HPE, and Merck.

科技部副部长张广军致开幕辞。他对峰会的召开表示祝贺，对商会及其会员企业促进科技创新合作表示赞赏。张广军副部长强调了科技和创新的全球意义，表示中美两国应加强在这一领域的合作，以有效应对全球挑战。他强调了如中美清洁能源研究中心等合作成就，并重申中国将继续致力于高水平对外开放，加强同外资企业的合作，特别是在技术领域。

Vice Minister Zhang Guangjun from the Ministry of Science and Technology delivered insightful opening remarks. He extended congratulations to the summit and expressed gratitude to AmCham China and its member companies for fostering cooperation. Zhang emphasized the global significance of technology and innovation, asserting that China and the US must enhance collaboration in this domain to address global challenges effectively. He highlighted achievements like the US-China Clean Energy Research Center and reaffirmed China's commitment to openness and cooperation with foreign enterprises, particularly in the technology sector.

Sustainable Computing for a Sustainable Future

英特尔中国区政府事务副总裁蒋涛介绍了英特尔对可持续发展的承诺，强调企业将其战略、制造和供应链实践与中国的碳目标保持一致。蒋涛表示，英特尔在推动绿色计算和数字技术方面发挥领导作用，重点关注个人电脑行业的可持续性和节能数据中心。

Tony Jiang, Vice President of China Government Affairs at Intel, emphasized Intel's commitment to sustainability, aligning their strategy, manufacturing, and supply chain practices with China's carbon goals. He underlined Intel's leadership in promoting green computing and digital technologies, focusing on sustainability in the PC industry and energy-efficient data centers.

US-China Relations: How Long Will The "Thaw" Last?

欧亚集团董事总经理华自强 (Rick Waters) 在演讲中解析了最近中美关系的“解冻”，强调潜在风险因素以及科技在中美双边关系中发挥的作用。华自强就美国国家安全政策进行澄清，强调美国不寻求与中国“脱钩“，并表示中美关系的缓和将为未来提供更多机会。

Rick Waters, Managing Director at Eurasia Group, discussed the recent thaw in US-China relations, highlighting underlying risk factors and the role of technology in the bilateral relationship. Waters clarified US policies on national security, emphasizing that the US does not seek decoupling from China and that the softening of relations between the countries provides opportunities for the future.

AI Governance

美国信息产业机构 (USITO) 北京办事处总裁兼首席代表缪万德 (Christopher Millward) 在演讲中谈及了人工智能引发的道德和伦理问题。他强调需要开展综合全面的人工智能治理，包括协调各行业部门，并敦促更好地定义人工智能的目标以应对伦理挑战。

Christopher Millward, President and Managing Director of USITO-United States Information Technology Office, addressed the moral and ethical questions raised by artificial intelligence. He emphasized the need for comprehensive AI governance involving all sectors, urging better definition of the objectives and ethical considerations surrounding AI.

Panel Discussion: "Building A Sustainable Future: The Role of Technology and Responsible Innovation"

小组讨论由商会信息通信技术工作组的联席主席顾文杰主持，嘉宾包括：慧与全球副总裁、中国区董事总经理朱海翔，康明斯中国供应链战略与转型总监宋立伟。嘉宾们分享了对各自公司ESG行动的见解，重点介绍了与环境可持续性、多样性、公平性和包容性 (DEI) 以及治理相关的举措， 并鼓励企业将ESG战略整合到公司运营中，强调应着眼于除降低成本之外的长期效益。

The panel discussion titled moderated by Wenjie Gu, Co-Chair of AmCham China ICT Committee, featured speakers Michael Zhu, Global Vice President and Managing Director of China for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and David Song, Director of Supply Chain Strategy & Transformation of Cummins. They shared insights into their companies' ESG actions, highlighting initiatives related to environmental sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), and governance. Both speakers encouraged enterprises to integrate ESG into their operations, emphasizing the long-term benefits beyond cost reduction.

艺术家高海龙展示了Meta最新的元宇宙产品，让与会者得以一窥互联网的未来。

Artist Matt Gao showcased Meta's latest metaverse product, providing attendees with a glimpse into the future of the internet.

商会总裁何迈可总结了当天峰会的主要内容，并感谢所有赞助商的支持。他强调了张广军副部长开幕词的意义、英特尔在可持续发展方面的努力、华自强对中美关系的见解、惠普和康明斯在推行ESG与DEI中的示范举措、Meta的元宇宙产品展示以及美国信息产业机构对呼吁开展兼顾伦理与发展的人工智能治理的重要性。本次峰会圆满结束，与会者表示期待在不断变化的科技与创新领域开展合作。

Michael Hart, President at AmCham China, concluded the event by summarizing the key takeaways from the day's discussions and thanking all sponsors for their support. He highlighted the significance of Vice Minister Zhang's opening remarks, Intel's sustainability efforts, Rick Waters' insights into US-China relations, the exemplary ESG and DEI initiatives from HPE and Cummins, Meta's AI product showcase, and USITO's call for ethical AI development. The summit concluded on a high note, with participants looking forward to future collaborations in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and innovation.
