现场回顾 | 中国美国商会第42届年度会员大会

11月16日，中国美国商会在北京国贸大酒店举办了2023年度会员大会。在华美国企业会员欢聚一堂，共庆过去一年取得的合作成就。

The China World Summit Wing Hotel in Beijing set the stage for the 2023 AmCham China Annual General Meeting on Thursday, November 16. The event, bustling with enthusiasm and energy, marked a significant moment as members of the American business community in China gathered to celebrate another year of achievements and collaborations.

中国美国商会总裁（会长）何迈可在致辞中对到场嘉宾表示热烈欢迎，并对活动赞助商——威猛、微软、WE女性发展协会、和英特尔表示感谢。随后，他邀请中国美国商会主席华刚林上台致辞。

Michael Hart, President of AmCham China, warmly welcomed everyone, expressing gratitude to the event sponsors – Vermeer, Microsoft, the Women Empowerment Council, and Intel. He then invited Colm Rafferty, Chairman of AmCham China, to the stage.

华刚林回顾了这不平凡的一年，并表示他在商会历任副主席、理事和主席等多个职位的经历增进了他对商业格局演变的观察深度。

Rafferty reflected on what he described as an extraordinarily intriguing year. His experience, spanning multiple terms as Vice Chair, Governor, and now as Chairman, lent depth to his observations about the evolving business landscape.

华刚林强调，在华美国企业在双边关系中发挥着关键作用，为双边关系注入了稳定力量。在华美国企业所作出的重要贡献不仅体现在商业上，还体现在促进人际交往和展现美国核心价值观等方面。他指出，这些价值观包括对劳工权利、知识产权保护、环保意识、反腐和法治的坚定承诺。华刚林强调，中国美国商会致力于成为实施上述原则的典范，确保美国企业继续对中国经济产生积极影响。

He emphasized the pivotal role of American businesses in China, stating they serve as a stabilizing force in the bilateral relationship. He highlighted their significant contributions, not just in terms of business but in fostering people-to-people interactions and embodying core American values. These values, he noted, include a strong commitment to labor rights, intellectual property protection, environmental consciousness, anti-corruption measures, and the rule of law. Rafferty emphasized that AmCham China's aim is to act as a beacon for these principles, ensuring that American businesses continue to positively influence China's economic landscape.

他自豪地回顾了中国美国商会在去年取得的成就，尤其是在向政府建言献策方面。商会通过与部长级官员举行会议、组织华盛顿敲门之旅等方式，促进了中美政府间的高级别对话。他很高兴地看到，最近一系列内阁级会议和两国元首旧金山会晤的成功举行，并表示这体现了中国美国商会在政府建言献策方面的工作成果。

He proudly reflected on AmCham China's achievements over the year, particularly highlighting the organization's advocacy work. This included significant ministerial meetings and the DC Doorknock, which fostered high-level government-to-government talks. He expressed satisfaction with the recent series of Cabinet-level meetings and the Presidents' meeting in San Francisco, viewing them as fruits of AmCham China's dedicated advocacy.

华刚林表示，2023年董事会的积极贡献对于这一年的成功至关重要，特别是副主席李碧菁女士和徐旸女士的奉献和参与。华刚林还特别感谢了总法律顾问 Ashwin Kaja, 他在修订组织章程方面付出了不懈的努力，为商会的未来发展奠定了坚实基础。

Rafferty acknowledged the contributions of the 2023 Board, especially Vice Chairs Roberta Lipson and Gloria Xu. He praised their dedication and involvement, which he deemed critical to the year's successes. Rafferty also gave a special mention to Ashwin Kaja, the General Counsel, for his tireless work in revising the organization's Constitution, thereby setting a strong foundation for the future.

华刚林在总结中表示，商会的愿景是成为以会员为驱动的组织，致力于改善中国营商环境并促进中美经济关系持续发展，分享诚信、合作、领导和独立等核心价值观。在过去一年成就的基础上，商会将以乐观的态度积极应对未来的挑战和机遇。

Concluding his remarks, Rafferty shared the Chamber's vision – to be a member-driven organization dedicated to improving business conditions in China and fostering sustainable US-China economic relations – and shared the Chamber's four core values of integrity, collaboration, leadership, and independence. His speech not only celebrated the past year's accomplishments but also set a tone of optimism and resolve for the challenges and opportunities ahead.

接着，华刚林颁发向科文顿•柏灵律师事务所公共政策实践组高级顾问谭森先生颁发了先锋奖，该奖项旨在表彰在企业精神、商业成就、创新和人文等方面具有代表性的先锋人物。谭森曾任美国驻上海总领事，现任上海美国商会主席。由于谭森正在旧金山参加亚太经合组织会议，所以他以视频方式接受了这一荣誉。

Rafferty then presented the Pioneer Award, which is designed to celebrate those whose professional contributions and personal character represent America's stories in entrepreneurship, business success, innovation, and humanity. This year's recipient was Sean Stein, a senior advisor in Covington's Public Policy Practice Group, the former US Consul General in Shanghai, and the current Chairman of AmCham Shanghai. Stein, who was in San Francisco to attend the ongoing APEC meetings, accepted the award via video message.

主席服务奖颁发给了吴素珍女士和Dinah Watkins，以表彰他们多年来通过慈善舞会为中国美国商会社区做出的杰出贡献和为社群带来的欢乐。由于Dinah Watkins无法现场出席，华刚林代表他宣读了获奖致辞。吴素珍女士发表了充满感情的演讲，讲述了过去二十年慈善舞会创造的珍贵回忆。

The Chairman's Service Award went to Su Cheng Harris-Simpson and Dinah Watkins, recognizing their exceptional contributions and service and acknowledging the joy they have brought to the AmCham China community through the Charity Ball over many years. Rafferty read out some words on behalf of Dinah Watkins, who was unable to attend in person, while Su-Cheng Harris Simpson delivered a heartfelt speech about the treasured memories created by the American Balls over the past two decades.

何迈可向化妆品和营养品工作组经理（（闫峻 - 安利、吴倩 - 宝洁、许春晖 - 鑫金证、刘小力 - 科赴、李丹丹 - 中国美国商会工作组经理）和法律工作组经理（Susan Munro - 美国高盖茨律师事务所驻北京代表处、Scott Palmer - 美国博钦律师事务所北京代表处、Michael Liu - 北京浩天律师事务所、杨倩钰 - 中国美国商会工作组经理）颁发了年度工作组奖，以表彰他们的杰出工作和领导力。

Next up were the Committee of the Year Awards. Presented by Michael Hart, these awards recognized the outstanding work of the Cosmetics and Nutrition Committee Managers (Jane Yan – Amway, Qian Wu – P&G, Chunhui Xu – GCC CNPERMIT, Frida Liu – Kenvue, and Dandan Li – AmCham China Committee Manager), and the Legal Affairs Committee Managers, acknowledging the leadership of Michael Liu – Hylands Law Firm, Susan Munro – K&L Gates, Scott Palmer – Perkins Coie, and Ada Yang – AmCham China Committee Manager.

A moment of gratitude was extended to the outgoing members of the Board of Governors, followed by a group photo of the 2023 Board, showcasing the commitment and dedication of these leaders.

William Zarit led the introduction of candidates for the upcoming Board election, providing a platform for them to share their vision and aspirations. 12 candidates are running for seven open Board seats, and each one was each given two minutes to present to the audience. 最后，吴素珍女士介绍了Leadership Development Program (LDP) 的重要意义。本期项目学员上台合影留念，庆祝学业圆满完成。

Before the evening's festivities finished, Su Cheng Harris-Simpson highlighted the significance of the Leadership Development Program (LDP), celebrating the achievements of this year's cohort with a group photo.

The 2023 AGM was a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the American business community in China and the evening not only honored the past year's triumphs, but also set the stage for future endeavors.
