SHENZHEN has suspended a reciprocal recognition policy that waived mandatory quarantine on inbound travelers when they have finished a 14-day medical observation in Hong Kong.
Under the new policy, inbound travelers from Hong Kong are required to have an additional 14-day quarantine on the mainland, even if they have finished a 14-day quarantine in Hong Kong, Shenzhen’s entry and exit port office said on its website Saturday.
The measures were updated following the tightened rules issued by the Shenzhen Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Epidemic Prevention and Control Headquarters on July 17 that required inbound travelers from Hong Kong to present a negative result of nucleic acid test issued within 72 hours by a qualified testing institution recognized by Hong Kong authorities.

In the rules issued July 17, important businesspeople, cross-border truck drivers, cross-border students who have been approved to be exempted from collective medical observation, and people who comply with the policy of reciprocal recognition of medical observation between Guangdong and Hong Kong, may be exempted from compulsory quarantine.
Hong Kong reported 128 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 yesterday, the fifth straight day when the daily additional cases surpassed 100.
The newly reported cases, including 103 local infections and 25 imported cases, brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong to 2,633.
Out of the local cases, 68 are related to previously confirmed cases, mostly clusters concerning gatherings of families or friends, while the sources of infection of the other 35 cases remain unknown.
