The expo brought together 300 exhibitors and showcased over 10,000 types of aquatic products and intelligent marine technologies, attracting more than 30,000 participants from over 20 countries and regions. During the fair, 15 leading fishery enterprises and research institutes jointly established the Shenzhen Modern Fishery High-Quality Development Alliance, with 22 enterprises signing fishery-related cooperation frameworks.
One of the highlights of the event was the official launch of the transaction system of the Shenzhen International Tuna Transaction Center, which completed its first auction Friday. A 204-kilogram bluefin tuna from the Atlantic Ocean was sold for 57,324 yuan, or 281 yuan per kilogram, via an online auction. The center aims to be a high-tech-based transaction and settlement center for global aquatic product businesses and is set to become operational before the end of the year when facilities in Dachan Bay are ready.
The expo also witnessed an on-site auction of a 3-meter-long, 327-kilogram tuna at 1.98 million yuan by the owner of a Japanese restaurant in Shenzhen.
Next year’s expo will also be held in May and its exhibition area will be doubled to 60,000 square meters. The event will span four days, with two days dedicated to professional buyers.
