Themed “Voyage into the Future,” the show, with an exhibition area covering 150,000 square meters, opened at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District on Friday. It will last until this Saturday.
At this year’s auto show, new energy vehicles (NEVs) have undoubtedly taken center stage. Almost all brands are showcasing their NEV models. Many automakers have rolled out generous discounts on various models to attract buyers.

Meanwhile, intelligent driving technology also garnered a lot of attention and most auto brands have brought intelligent new models to the show.
Following traditional luxury brands like Mercedes Benz, BMW and Audi, BYD is the first Chinese brand to build its own hall at the auto show.
At Hall 6, all of BYD’s auto series and products are on display, including its high-end brand Yangwang. Their off-road U8 series and U9 luxury series started pre-orders on site. Although the price of the U8 series is as high as 1.098 million yuan (US$154,070), the vehicles attracted many visitors.

On the auto show’s opening day, BYD also launched a series of its car models’ champion editions, which feature the latest power systems, intelligent technology and safety configurations.
BYD’s NEV sales have continued to skyrocket since the beginning of this year, according to the Shenzhen-based NEV manufacturer. Statistics show that BYD sold 240,220 vehicles in May alone, with cumulative sales of 996,476 vehicles from January to May, including 239,092 passenger cars, up 109.4% year on year.

The Greater Bay Area auto show marks the first time that all of the BMW models on display in its exhibition area are NEVs at a major auto show. According to a BMW dealer, their NEV lineup at the auto show has reflected the company’s confidence in Shenzhen’s promising car market with continuous surge in NEV sales.
“We received hundreds of orders in the first two days. Customers placing orders at the auto show are entitled to a discount of up to 10,000 yuan, in addition to a subsidy of 14,000 yuan from Bao’an District,” said Liu Xirong, general manager of car brand AITO Wenjie’s user center in Bao’an.

To spur automobile consumption, Shenzhen’s various districts and Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone have rolled out car purchase subsidies since the beginning of this year.
During the auto show, a series of promotional measures have been introduced by the show’s organizing committee, governments at all levels and auto manufacturers to further boost car sales.
