Once upon a time in a land far far away, there was a wonderful old man who loved everything. Animals, spiders, insects...

从前，在一个非常非常遥远的国度，有一位心地善良的老人。他喜爱一切东西，动物啦、蜘蛛啦、昆虫啦。

One day while walking through the woods the nice old man found a cocoon of a butterfly. He took it home.

一天，这位善良的老人在树林里散步的时候，发现了一个蝴蝶的茧。他把茧带回了家。

A few days later, a small opening appeared; he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther.

几天后，茧裂开了一道小缝。老人几小时地坐在那里，看着蝴蝶挣扎着让自己的身体从小缝中挤出来。后来，蝴蝶破茧好象停了下来，没有什么进展了。看来蝴蝶好象是撑到了最后，再也不可能前进了。

Then the man decided to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon.

The butterfly then emerged easily.

But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings. The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and shriveled wings.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was that the restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butterfly to get through the tiny opening were Nature's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.

Sometimes our biggest weakness can become your biggest strength. Take, for example, the story t of one 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that the had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident.

The boy began lesson with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was dong well, so he couldn't understand why, after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move.

"Mister," the boy finally said, "shouldn't I be learning more moves?"

Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training.

Several months later, the master took the boy to his first tournament.

To his surprise,, the boy easily won his first two matches. The third match proved to be more difficult, but after some time, his opponent became impatient and charged; the boy deftly used his one move to win the match. Still amazed by his success, the boy was now in the finals.

Concerned that the boy might get hurt, the referee called a time-out. He was about to stop the match when the master intervened.

The first day of school our professor introduced a little old lady to us.

at the year's end rose finished the college degree. one week after graduation rose died peacefully in her sleep. over two thousand college students attended her funeral to honor the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

There was a young man born in a poor family, as a result, his school career was continually interrupted.

Once he was asked to write a paper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up, That night he write a seven--page paper describing his goal of some day owing a horse ranch, he write his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch, then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000--square--foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch. He put a great deal of his heart into the project and the next day he handed it in to his teacher.

Two days later, he received his paper back, on the front page was a large red F with a note that read " see me after class" the boy with dream went to see the teacher after class and asked "why did I receive an F?", the teacher said "this is an unrealistic dream for young boy like you "you have no money you have no resources from your family, there is no way you could ever do it ,then the teacher added "if you rewrite this paper with a more realistic goal, I will reconside your grade"

The boy went home and thought about it long and hard. he asked his father what he should do, his farther said , '' look, son, you have to make up your own mind on this, however, I think it is very important decision for you "

Finally, after sitting with it for a week, the boy turned in the same paper, making no changes at all. He stated, "You can keep the F and I will keep my dream ".

Recollecting the story, writer was sitting in Boy's 4,000--square--foot house in the middle of 200-acre ranch two summers ago, that same school teacher brought 30 Kids to camp out on his ranch. When the teacher was leaving, ha said "look, Monty, I can tell you this now, when I was your teacher, I was something of a dream stealer. During those years, I stole a lot of Kids' dreams, fortunately, you had enough gumption not to give up on yours.

Six minutes to six, said the clock over the international booth in New York’s Grand Central Station. The tall young Army lieutenant lifted his sunburned face and narrowed his eyes to note the exact time. His heart was pounding with a beat. In six minutes he would see the woman who had filled such a special place in his life for the past 13 month, the woman he had never seen, yet whose written words had sustained him unfailingly.
