Beijing Unveils Plans for Futuristic Elevated Bus
By Justine Lopez
We’re all in favor of anything that will help lessen Beijing’s traffic woes. But this? This seems a tad bit ridiculous.
A scale model of the “transit elevated bus” was unveiled at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, which was held in the capital last weekend.

As you’ll see in the video demonstration, the monstrous bus is elevated so that it basically straddles traffic. Cool right? But upon watching the video here at That’s Beijing we couldn’t help but wonder what happens if said bus encounters another bus or a vehicle piled high with, well, anything. That just wouldn’t be good. But we digress…
The super futuristic-looking bus was designed by a Beijing-based company. It runs on electricity and can apparently hold roughly 1,200 passengers, which sounds pretty impressive. The goal is to reduce congestion on the capital's streets that is caused by normal buses. But this grand plan seems a bit over the top if you ask us.
We might be skeptical of the “transit elevated bus.” However, it is apparently going to start being tested later this year, The Daily Mail reports. But something tells us that the testing phase of the “transit elevated bus” is going to hit quite a few roadblocks.
