Chinese Rio Olympic Athletic Team Uniforms Unveiled
By Bridget O'Donnell
The official athletic uniforms for the Chinese Olympic team have been unveiled, and they ain't too shabby.
Following its massive success in the 2012 Olympics in London, Anta will again be the official uniform partner with the Chinese Olympic Committee at the 2016 Rio Games. The outfits were unveiled this morning at the Water Cube in Beijing, where the swimming events were held in the 2008 Olympics.
Anta will be providing outfits for all Chinese medal winners, as well as the unis for 10 sports, including gymnastics, trampoline, weightlifting, judo, boxing, taekwondo, rowing, canoeing and water polo.
The uniforms were designed by Masha Ma, a Beijing-based fashion designer and one of China's most talented fashion creatives. (Her Shanghai studio, Ma by Ma, opened earlier last year).
They're a huge step up from the 'Tomato and Egg' opening ceremony outfits that were widely mocked by netizens last month.
Li-Ning, the Chinese athleticwear company named after China's first Olympic gold medalist Li Ning, will be providing the uniforms for the Indian team this year. They also provided the table tennis uniforms for the Chinese national team in 2012.
