Registration for Beijing's Annual Vertical Run Now Open
Beijing’s vertical run is back. Just like last year’s event, the marathon will take place at the China World Summit Wing in the CBD on September 3.
Participants will race from the lobby to the top of the 82-story skyscraper. And they'll climb a total of 2,041 steps (or 330 meters) to do it.
While it sounds like a daunting task to us, most racers reportedly finish the race in about 15-40 minutes.
The event is part of the Vertical World Circuit, the world’s only skyscraper racing series. Other vertical races have been held in locations such as New York City’s 1 World Trade Center and Hong Kong’s International Commerce Centre.
Roughly 800 contestants from 20 countries participated in the 2015 Vertical World Circuit's Beijing leg, which was also held in the China World Summit Wing.
Last year, the fastest male runner was Piotr Lobodzinski (Poland), who completed the vertical race in 9 minutes and 53 seconds. Suzy Walsham (Australia) finished the race in 11 minutes and 52 seconds and was officially the fastest female competitor.
Online registration for the marathon is now open. To register or to learn more about the race, click "Read more" at the bottom of this page.
