3 Places to Watch the Rio Olympics Opening Ceremony in Beijing
By Justine Lopez
Watching sporting events as an expat living in China can be rough. And the 2016 Rio Olympics is no different. Yes, there might be a 12-hour time difference between Beijing and Rio. But that’s not going to stop us sports fans from watching the Summer Games, including tomorrow's Opening Ceremony, right?
So if you’re a diehard fan of the Olympics and you can’t live without watching the Opening Ceremony, there are a few places around town that will be showing it, even with a 7am start time.
1. Cuju
Cuju has vowed to show as many Olympic events as possible – they’re even promising to have a few sleepless nights during this year’s Olympics. They’ll be up bright and early tomorrow (Saturday) morning to show the Opening Day festivities. To celebrate the day, “the Bloody Pirate will take a little Brazilian detour with Cachaca.” Their words, not ours.

2. Paddy O’Shea’s
Paddy O’Shea’s is channeling their inner Brazilian for the Summer Games. Not only are they screening the Opening Ceremony tomorrow morning at 7am, but they’ll have Caipirinhas, samba and bossa too. That’ll wake you up!

3. The Westin Beijing Financial Street
The Westin will be showing the Rio Olympics in their entirety. Super fans can tune into the Games at the Zen Garden, which is going to be transformed into an authentic sports bar for the Summer Games. In honor of the occasion, they are serving up draft beer and other beverages, not to mention they have some killer food, too. FYI, the Games will repeat every day until Sun Aug 21.
