星空间将于2020年7月11日举办徐毛毛个展“红孩子白孩子⻩孩子绿孩子黑孩子蓝孩子”，作为最早签约的艺术家之一，徐毛毛与星空间的合作已达15年，本次展览是星空间为其推出的第6次个展，将展出《红色的黑》、《没有绿色的大管子》、《带核的灵魂》等7幅常规尺寸的布面丙烯绘画，该展还将展出她在同一阶段创作的70余件小幅及纸上作品。Star Gallery is going to present Xu Maomao’s solo exhibition Red Child, White Child, Yellow Child, Green Child, Black Child, Blue Child from 11 July 2020. As one of the earliest artists represented by Star Gallery, Xu Maomao has been committed to this enterprise for 15 years. The upcoming exhibition will be her 6th solo executed by the gallery, and will include 7 acrylic on canvases of conventional dimensions, such as The Red Black, Big Tube without Green and Soul with a Core, as well as over 70 works created in the same phase either in smaller sizes or on paper.在近5、6年间，徐毛毛的绘画渐次完成了一番转型：从具象漫步至抽象的边缘；从三维趋近于二维；从繁复演化为简约；从而进入更为虚幻、更为自由的超现实世界。《红孩子白孩子⻩孩子绿孩子黑孩子蓝孩子》完成于新冠疫情肆虐全球的2020年4月，“我想用平等博爱去对抗焦虑”，徐毛毛在介乎于土黄与浅驼色间的暧昧背景下，罗列出富有象征意味的几块颜色，大小不一、形状也不规则，其间漂浮着几条黑线，令人不禁联想到细小的胎发，或者连接着婴儿与母体的脐带。During the past 5 or 6 years, Xu Maomao’s painting has undergone a transformation — from being representational to the edge of abstractionism; from three dimensional to two dimensional, and thereby entering the more illusory and freer world of surrealism. Red Child, White Child, Yellow Child, Green Child, Black Child, Blue Child was completed in April 2020 during the rampant outbreak of COVID-19. “I’d like to fight the anxiety with equality and fraternity,” said Xu Maomao, who has set out a symbolic array of irregular shapes in different colors and sizes against a background in an ambiguous color between yellowish brown and light camel. Floating between these shapes are several black threads in the resemblance of the fragile infant hairs, or the umbilical cords connecting fetuses and their mothers.24幅小尺寸的布面丙烯和50幅纸本作品反映出徐毛毛创作与生活的常态，作为一个多梦的人，她借助可在半天内完成的小画来捕捉那些曾经触动过自己的碎片，并以此累积成为一部有关梦的日志。她的梦往往是荒诞不经的，且重复着相似的主题，但她不厌其烦，并将每一幅作品逐一命名，如《休息的乳房》、《下垂的乳房》、《不均衡的乳房》、《肆无忌惮的乳房》、《遇到危险的乳房》、《一边融化一边喷火的乳房》、《被干扰的双乳》、《被干扰的一只乳房》、《喷火的绿乳房》、《一对乳房风中摇曳》、《一只乳房也没关系》、《逃跑的一只乳房》等。The 24 acrylic on canvases in smaller sizes and 50 works on paper reflect the everyday state of Xu Maomao’s work and life. As one who always have dreamful sleeps, Xu Maomao tries to catch the touching fragments with the smaller paintings that could be finished within half a day, which have composed a journal about her dreams. Xu Maomao’s dreams are usually absurd with several repeating themes, but she spares no trouble to give a name to each one of these paintings, such as Resting Breasts, Pendulous Breasts, Unbalanced Breasts, Reckless Breasts, Breast in Danger, Breasts Melting and Erupting at Once, A Pair of Interfered Breasts, An Interfered Breast , Erupting Green Breasts, A Pair of Breasts Swaying in the Wind, Just One Breast Is Alright, A Fleeting Breast, etc.
