It's time for the 70th Cannes Film Festival!

As one of the most prestigious cinematic events of the year, the 70th annual Cannes Film Festival finally takes place from May 17-28. 

Chinese actress Fan Bing Bing was seen attending the official jury dinner with Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival, at the Martinez Hotel on Tuesday.

Earlier media reports said Fan is on the eight-member festival jury chaired by Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, along with other noted film practitioners such as Jessica Chastain and Will Smith.

A 70th anniversary special edition of the Palme d'Or trophy, inlaid with diamonds, was pictured during a photocall in Geneva.

With security tight in France following the series of terrorist attacks in Europe, police officers were also seen patrolling in front of the Palais des Festivals along the top end of the Croisette on the eve of the opening of the festival.
