Faces of CGTN: Seeing a different mission | 使命一年
My name is Job Bitange. I am a video editor with CGTN’s African branch. I joined CCTV News, the predecessor of CGTN, in April 2014. It has been a wonderful experience so far, and I trust it will continue to be.
我是Job Bitange，现在是CGTN非洲分台的一名视频编辑。2014年四月，我加入了CCTV News，也就是CGTN的前身。我觉得过去几年的工作体验非常精彩，相信未来也会如此。
I come from a humble background, having lived half my life in East Africa’s biggest slum: Kibera. Throughout my high school and college, I had to work as a laborer on several farms to raise the school fees. But those struggles also taught me a valuable lesson that it is up to me to make things work.
我生在贫寒的家庭，过去有一半的人生都在东非最大的贫民窟基贝拉度过。在整个高中和大学阶段，我都要去农场工作赚取学费。但是也正是这些经历让我明白了命运掌握在我自己手里。
I consider myself lucky working for CGTN. So far, it has been the most fulfilling position throughout my career. I remember being very enthusiastic and excited when I first joined. As a video editor, it is always rewarding to be able to see my work on the screen. At CGTN, I have reconnected with old friends who joined too, and made a couple of new ones along the way too.
能进入CGTN工作，我觉得非常幸运。这份工作也是我职业生涯中让我收获最多的一个。我一直记得我刚入职时的热情和兴奋。作为一名视频编辑，能看见自己的作品呈现在屏幕上让我觉得非常有成就感。在这里我重逢了同样来此工作的旧友，也慢慢有了更多新朋友。
CGTN has supported me throughout my time here. With my very first bonus I renovated the learning center I run in Kibera. We expanded some of our classrooms to make them more spacious for the children. Our first Chinese visitors were colleagues from CGTN, and they donated food and school supplies to the center. Since then, we have received many more CGTN colleagues who were keen to help.
CGTN也一直支持着我的生活。我用我拿到的第一笔工作奖金在基贝拉开设了一个学习中心。接着又扩建了一些教室，让来学习的孩子能够有更宽敞的环境。来这所学校参观的第一批中国人就是我在CGTN的同事们，为我们捐赠了食物以及一些学习用品。自那以后，越来越多的同事都施以援手。
I see a wonderful future ahead for CGTN in Nairobi, not only with the exciting new projects we have planned, but also how it helps not only in the office, but in my own life.
在我看来，非洲分台未来一定更加辉煌，因为在这里我不仅看见了同事们策划的一个个精彩的节目，更感受到在工作中，在生活里，这个集体给与我的关怀。
