解密中美贸易：美国人的生活可以离开“中国制造”吗？

United States President Donald Trump has said he is determined to reverse the trade deficit with China. But in such an integrated world, could an American live without goods made in China?

帕默•曼德尔森是一位生活在美国加利福尼亚州旧金山市的视频博主。最近，他接受了一项挑战，来试试看离开“中国制造”的生活是什么样子的。

Palmer Mandelson is a vlogger living in San Francisco in the US state of California. He recently took on this challenge, in an attempt to see what life would be like without any products made in China.

他检查了家中的大部分物品，发现它们分别是印度、越南和中国生产的。

He checked most of the items in his home and found that they were made in India, Vietnam and China. 

与此同时，他在当地的罗斯百货、好市多超市等店寻找“美国制造”的商品时，发现了相同的情况。

Meanwhile, he went to local stores including Ross and Costco in search of US-made products and he found a similar situation. 

曼德尔森发现，所有日用品，如服装和家用电器，都是在美国境外生产的，而其中大多数是“中国制造”。

Mendelson found out that all the products for everyday use, such as clothing and home appliances, are made outside the United States, mostly in China. 

曼德尔森最终不得不承认，对他而言，离开“中国制造”的生活是很困难的。

Mendelson eventually admitted that it 's rather difficult for him to last without items manufactured in China.

Long Yongtu, former WTO chief negotiator for China

“Americans have strong consumption power and the market is big. The American market has been the largest destination for Chinese exports since China joined the World Trade Organization,” said Long Yongtu, former WTO chief negotiator for China. 

他补充道，“从某种程度上说，美国是物美价廉的中国商品的最大受益方，也是中国扩大出口贸易的主要受惠者。只不过，这种情况带来的贸易顺差同时也有利于中国发展。”

He added that “in a way, America is the major beneficiary of quality and inexpensive Chinese goods, and the major beneficiary of expanded Chinese exports. At the same time, however, this situation has also led to a trade surplus in favor of China.”
