A mass civilian parade was held at Beijing's Tian'anmen Square on Tuesday following the military parade during National Day celebrations, marking the major achievements since the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. Around 100,000 citizens and 70 floats joined the parade in 36 formations, highlighting the founding of the PRC, China's reform and opening-up and its great rejuvenation.
Among those in the parade were deliverymen who represented one of China's new rising industries, together with other workers and practitioners belonging to all professions of all ages, including the disabled and elderly.
“
再普通的岗位,都值得被尊重,
致敬每一个为美好生活奋斗的人!”
Hong Kong police sergeant Lau Cha-kei, who went viral for his efforts in protecting Hong Kong, was invited to the military parade and celebrations. "The military parade not only demonstrates how strong China is, it also shows our young people how China has gained its achievements," Lau writes on his Weibo.
The Chinese Women Volleyball Team, who was just crowned at FIVB Women's World Cup with 11 straight wins, was also seen in the parade standing on a float greeting the crowds.
