A 57-page memo that advises Republicans to pin the blame on China and Democrats for the coronavirus crisis surfaced in the past few days. 

近日，一份长达57页的备忘录曝光，建议共和党将新冠疫情危机的责任推脱给中国和民主党人。

It was written by Brett O'Donnell, a name that many of us are not familiar with.  

这份文件的作者是布雷特·奥唐纳，我们大多数人并不熟悉这个名字。

But he has rubbed shoulders with some big-name Republican politicians.

但他与知名的共和党政客有不少交往。

So who is Brett O'Donnell?

Before becoming the "candidate whisperer," O'Donnell was a writer for Fox News' Sean Hannity, one of President Trump's favorite TV personalities.

For 15 years, he campaigned for many Senators and House Republicans, as the owner of his consulting firm O'Donnell & Associates.

He aided President George W. Bush's reelection in 2004.

In 2015, Brett O'Donnell pleaded guilty to lying about accepting over 43,000 U.S. dollars from former House Representative Paul Broun during the latter's campaign for Senate in 2012.

This gray area of mixing government and political funds brought him a slew of lucrative "deals" with high-profile Republicans.

O'Donnell was investigated by the FBI, but got off with barely any punishment.

Because he was not hired for "consulting" but for "contracting" services.

The memo that I mentioned in the beginning, has angered Trump because O'Donnell advises Republicans to not "defend Trump" for his handling of the pandemic.

By all means, Trump still picked up one clever idea that was conceived in this memo: claiming he has evidence linking the coronavirus' origin to a Wuhan lab – despite U.S. health authorities and intelligence officials saying that there's no proof.
