World's 2nd largest hydropower station completes the main structure Baihetan Hydropower Station, the world's second-largest after the Three Gorges Dam, has completed the construction of the main structure. With a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts, it's expected to generate more than 62 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 51.6 million tons. Baihetan Hydropower Station is the second-largest hydropower station in China in terms of installed capacity, second only to the Three Gorges Dam project in the central province of Hubei. Its first unit is scheduled to start operations around July 1 this year. The station will be in full operation by the end of 2022. The station is located downstream of the Jinsha River, in the upper section of the Yangtze River, in Ningnan county of Southwest China's Sichuan Province, and Qiaojia county in neighboring Yunnan Province. 推荐阅读:“最抗冻高铁”全线贯通! 坐着高铁去雄安,你准备好了吗?
