妻子达尔辛妮是家庭主妇，平时靠帮人缝衣服来补贴家用，丈夫斯里尼瓦桑是三轮突突车（出租车）司机。达尔辛妮表示，国家陷入严重经济危机后，已经没有人来找她缝补衣物了；丈夫的出租车生意也因为高昂的油价变得十分不景气。一家人为了购买保障日常生活的汽油，基本上每天都在排队。达尔辛妮说：“现在，我们的生活都在排队中度过。”
