The 3rd China International Consumer Products Expo, also known as the Hainan Expo, will serve as a trading platform for global high-quality consumer goods and inject impetus into the recovery of the world economy, according to a briefing by the State Council Information Office on Monday.

This year's expo will be held on April 10-15 in Haikou, the capital of south China's Hainan Province, and is set to be significantly larger than in 2022. The exhibition area has been expanded to 120,000 square meters, and over 3,100 brands from 65 countries and regions are expected to take part.

Seven leaders of countries and international organizations will attend the expo, along with nearly 30 CEOs from the world's top 500 enterprises and industry-leading companies.

Over 2,000 foreign buyers from 35 countries and regions have been invited, and more than 50,000 buyers and professional visitors from industries such as large-scale supermarkets and e-commerce are expected to attend.

Over 100 activities will be held, while over 60 reports will be released. Nearly 200 Chinese and foreign media outlets will report from the expo.

Italy, the guest country of honor at this year's expo, is expected to present at least 147 product brands across an exhibition area of 1,800 square meters, doubled from last year. Delegates from countries such as Spain and Poland will take part in the expo for the first time.

Participants also include 10 RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) members, among which Japan ranks first in scale. Japan's exhibition area exceeds 1,800 square meters and over 250 brands from more than 50 Japanese companies will be on show at the expo.

Over 1,000 new products from over 300 brands will make their debuts, covering sectors such as trendy toys, traditional crafts, cosmetics, jewelry, beverage and technology.

The expo will demonstrate China's pledge to deliver high-level opening up and share the opportunities of its massive market with the world. It will further boost consumer confidence and help fully demonstrate the achievements of the Hainan Free Trade Port, according to the State Council Information Office briefing.

Hainan's offshore duty free sales rose 18 percent year on year to 16.9 billion yuan ($2.46 billion) in the first quarter of 2023. The Hainan Free Trade Port's actual use of foreign capital has increased on average 63.5 percent annually over the past five years.

The island province resumed a visa-free entry policy for 59 countries on March 15, 2023. The policy had been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic since March 28, 2020.
