New Policies Cut Prices for Autumn Festival - Don’t Miss Out!
The Autumn Festival and National Day are coming and although these yearly holidays are usually associated with expensive tickets, a few destinations around China are actually cheaper to visit this year!
But wait, there’s more! You will find that more day-to-day items are now more affordable as well following new governmental policies that have just been implemented. Read on!

Scenic tourist sites have decreased their ticket prices
In June 2018, the National Development and Reform Commission issued the Guiding Opinions on Reducing Ticket Prices of Key State-Owned Scenic Spots and requested that the price of key state-owned tourist sites lowered before the end of September this year.
1. Reducing the ticket price for key state-owned scenic destinations, and focusing on social reflections and issues such as high ticket prices with large discounts.
2. Reducing the ticket price must not be muddled and increasing the other service's price while lowering the ticket price, or increase the burden of tourists in disguise.
3. All scenic sites should strictly implement the clear price quotation regulations and protect the tourists' right to know and choose the products. They must not bundle various tickets, tour services, insurance, etc., nor impose any other fees.
So which attractive sites will lower their prices?
Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Hunan, Shandong, Qinghai, Hubei and Anhui have released their own price reduction plans with price drops that mostly range between 20% to 30%, although a few have gone as far as offering free-of-charge access.
Hunan
On August 6th, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission announced the Notice on Reducing the Ticket Prices for the Nanyue Center Scenic Spot and the Notice on Reducing the Ticket Prices for the Yueyang Tower Scenic Spot. Tickets during the Nanyue Center peak season (May-October) dropped to RMB 110 per person, while off-season tickets (November to April) are now at RMB 80 per person. Tickets from the Yueyang Tower government dropped to RMB 70 per person.

Yunnan
On July 24th, the Yunnan Provincial Government issued the Opinions on Accelerating the Transformation and Upgrading of Tourism, clearly requiring that the Provincial Development and Reform Commission be responsible for completing the reduction of state-owned scenic spot tickets. The price of vehicles and ships in the scenic spot also need to be reduced.

Guangxi Guilin
Recently, ticket prices in many state-owned scenic sites in Guilin have been lowered. From August 20th, the ticket price of Xiangshan Mountain Scenic Area dropped from RMB 70 per person to RMB 60 per person; the ticket price of Qixing Scenic Spot dropped from RMB 70 per person to RMB 60 per person; the ticket price of the reed scenic spot is from RMB 110 per person to RMB 100 per person.

Hubei
On May 24, the website of the Wuhan Municipal Development and Reform Commission announced that according to the relevant requirements of the state and the province for reducing the ticket prices of key state-owned scenic spots, starting June 1, the single ticket for the Yellow Crane Tower has been reduced from RMB 80 per piece to RMB 70 per person; half price ticket from RMB 40 per person down to RMB 35.

Price of family broadband is expected to be cut by 30%
Recently, the General Office of the State Council issued the National Deepening the Reform and Transformation of Government Functions Video Teleconference Key Task Division (hereinafter referred to as the 'Program').
The 'Program' pointed out that in 2018, tariffs will be reduced by more than 30% and the household broadband price reduction will also be 30%. SME special lines will be reduced by 10%-15%.

National Medical Insurance Bureau lowered the price of 14 anticancer drugs
Patients can buy from September
The National Health Protection Bureau recently issued the Notice on Negotiating the Payment Standards and Purchasing Prices of Anti-cancer Drugs, and lowered the payment standards and purchase prices of 14 kinds of anti-cancer drugs and deployed their prices. It is expected that from September onwards, patients will be able to purchase anti-cancer drugs once the price reduction has been put in place.
These 14 kinds of anti-cancer drugs are all in the national medical insurance drug list, 12 of which are recorded in the catalogue after the price negotiations in 2017, and the other 2 are the drugs for the national drug price negotiations in 2015.

From July 1st, Import tariffs on imported consumer goods decreased
The State Council executive meeting was held earlier this year on May 30 where the reduction of import tariffs on daily consumer goods were discussed to meet diversified consumer demands.
After July 1st, the average import tariff rate on clothing, shoes, hats, kitchens and sports and fitness products decreased from 15.9% to 7.1%;

The average tariff rate for import tariffs on household appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators has dropped from 20.5% to 8%;
The average import tariff rate on processed foods such as farmed, caught aquatic products and mineral water decreased from 15.2% to 6.9%;
The average import tariff rate on detergents and skin care, hairdressing and other cosmetics and some medical and health products decreased from 8.4% to 2.9%.
