He Fixes Furniture with Instant Noodles, Toothpaste & Snacks?

Crystal Huang GuideinChina 2019-03-28

What do instant noodles, biscuits, toothpaste, paper towels, and washing powder have in common?

We can use them to fix broken furniture! And we know just the right man for it…

Wang Wei, a native of Anhui province, has surprised everyone from the city of Qingdao where he currently lives: he’s been fixing broken furniture using all kinds of unexpected items!

Speaking of his idea of using instant noodles to repair his furniture, he said it was a complete whim.

Today, Wang Wei has become a web celebrity by uploading videos of his rare fixing skills online, which have attracted millions of followers since his first video.

The restored cabinet:

A little girl in Hebei contacted Wang Wei after seeing his video to help fulfill her dreams of owning a guitar, which her family could not afford to buy.

After finding a discarded one, she asked him if he could fix it for her.

When Wang Wei first saw how damaged the guitar was, he did not think that fixing it would be possible.

But knowing how much this meant to the little girl, he decided to take on this challenge for free.

“It took me a whole day to fix it for her,” he told reporters. “But in the end, I knew that it would mean the world to her and that I should always help those in need if I have the skills and ability to do it.

After hearing the story of an old woman whose walking stick had broken, Wang Wei decided to turn his words into action by helping repair it for her. That stick had been bought by her deceased husband.

When he got it fixed and sent it back to the old woman, she was so happy that she began walking around like an excited child and insisted on paying him for his service.  Wang declined.

He said: "Instead of treating it as an object to be repaired, treat it as an expectation of the future or a memory of the past. Treat it as a broken belief that only needs a bit of fixing. With that in mind, you will only get better at your craft."
