This Challenge Goes Viral! But Do You Hate It?

Crystal Huang GuideinChina 2019-07-15

Recently on Weibo and Douyin, there’s been a new hit challenge: the fitting room challenge.

Challenge rule: Go to the mall with your friends, find a clothing store, each person picks out a few things they think are the ugliest, and their friend has to try them on taking before and after videos.

No purchase necessary!

Many users thought this challenge sounded interesting and wanted to give it a try!

But the problem behind this new challenge is that it adds a lot of unnecessary work to staff such as: hanging and folding clothes and returning them to their proper display.

Not to mention it may decrease the interest of real shoppers when they see the line for the fitting room and it’s very discouraging to staff when they realize they are not real customers.

Those that support this challenge say it’s not malicious, these users are just trying to entertain themselves. Of course, we all encourage entertainment as long as it’s not harmful to others.

Do you remember the article we posted last month about the girl buying dresses for her holiday and then returning them?

If you missed it, take a look here: Is the 7-Day No Reason Return Policy Good or Bad?

There’s also the article we posted the other day about a woman sneaking into a school to film a video: In Order to Become Internet Famous, a Woman Sneaks into School

Where do we draw the line for entertainment?

Many recent acts have shown disruptive behavior, been selfish, or seen as “harmful” in a sense.

Sometimes we need to be aware of others around us and make sure we are not being selfish or rude to them.

Then we can all live in harmony and life can be beautiful!
