Principal Investment Operations Specialist – Urban
The Principal Investment Operations Specialist – Urban will lead the AIIB’s lending program by supporting the identification, preparation, implementation, and supervision of urban investment projects. The Principal Specialist will be responsible for understanding and responding to the urban challenges and opportunities in Asia including urbanization (demographic shifts and social changes, economic, structural, and spatial transformation), climate change, disaster risk management, sustainable urban development, urban local governance, municipal services delivery, and technology and innovation, among others. The Principal Specialist will also be required to engage with other departments for issues relating to the sector.
Responsibilities:
Identify, structure, and execute investment opportunities in urban related projects.
Maintain a strong investment pipeline by interacting with prospective clients (sponsors, banks, investors, and development partners).
Lead investment teams of technical, legal, fiduciary and safeguard specialists to conduct the due diligence of investment proposals.
Manage key internal stakeholders and the AIIB investment approval process, ensuring that investments comply with AIIB’s policies and strategies.
Cooperate with cofinanciers on cofinancing projects and lead AIIB teams to conduct necessary due diligence for those projects.
Manage the business development in specific AIIB members and regions assigned to obtain a healthy pipeline of urban projects.
Provide quality technical contributions required for urban planning and other urban development-related areas in line with AIIB business needs.

Requirements:
Minimum relevant work experience of 10-15 years in the urban sector, preferably in Asia.
Substantial international project experience in urban sector, particularly capacity-constrained countries an advantage. Experience in working with multilateral development banks desirable.
Experience working on or leading teams and or demonstrated potential qualities for leadership.
Strong organizational and project management skills to perform day-to-day management of a large and complex project portfolio.

Investment Officer/Senior Officer – Capital Markets and Structured Products
The Banking Department has the following verticals: (i) capital markets and structured products; (ii) digital infrastructure and industry; (ii) financial institutions and syndication; and (iv) private equity.
The Investment Operations Region 1 – Banking Department is looking for Investment Officer(s)/Senior Officer(s) who will be tasked to originate, structure and execute infrastructure and infrastructure-related (i) capital markets investment projects and (ii) structured products. All investments must be in accordance with sound banking principles, including the assessment of commercial and financial viability, structuring according to international best practices, appropriate risk allocation and mitigation, and a market rate of return reflecting the risks of the investment. The Senior Investment Officer is expected to work closely with other relevant AIIB departments, assist management in preparing strategies for building the investment pipeline and assist in implementing these strategies. Training and developing junior team members will be an important responsibility.
Responsibilities:
Originate, structure, and execute of investment projects in the relevant mandated areas;
Maintain a strong investment pipeline by interacting with prospective clients (sponsors, banks, investors and fund managers);
Perform research on projects and clients;
Arrange and prepare for client meetings, including the preparation of presentations, memos and reports, etc.;

Experience in leading an investment team;

Investment Officer / Senior Investment Officer – Financial Institutions and Syndications
The Banking Department has the following verticals: (i) capital markets and structured products; (ii) digital infrastructure and industry; (iii) financial institutions and syndication; and (iv) private equity.
AIIB seeks to recruit a Investment Officer/Senior Investment Officer for the Investment Operations Region 1 Banking team, with experience in corporate/project finance syndication gained in a commercial/investment bank and/or international financial institutions. The Officer/Senior Investment Officer will works with project team leaders and Investment Operations colleagues to ensure the marketability of transactions, primarily their structure and pricing. The Officer/Senior Investment Officer will maintain an active dialogue with the market, provide current updates to both internal and external clients and support activities in pursuit of new business. They are expected to support their \structure and pricing guidance with an analysis of comparable financings (comps) and market sounding.
Additionally, the Officer/Senior Investment Officer will, working jointly with the project team, assist in the preparation of marketing materials, which may be information memoranda, lender presentations, or term sheets, among others, that can provide an overview of the company and be used by potential lenders/investors to analyze the investment opportunity and guide their investment decisions.
Responsibilities:
Establish, develop and maintain strong relationships with international, regional and local commercial banks, export credit agencies, insurance companies, multilateral financial institutions, institutional investors (sovereign and private equity funds) and other existing/potential B Loan participants and parallel lenders and keep an internal database of all participating financial institutions.
Develop and grow a diversified base of new investors and identify prospective new sources of capital mobilization and expand relationships with existing investors.
Assist the syndications team with the syndication process, including market research by reviewing recent deals closed and identifying potential investors (banks/export credit agencies/financial Institutions).
Conduct deal-specific market soundings to advise AIIB project teams and other syndications colleagues on deal structure and pricing.
Develop lists of prospective banks and syndication strategies for transactions.

Prepare loan marketing packages for distribution to investors.
Administer and launch data room sites for active deals.

Requirements:

Principal Portfolio Management Officer
AIIB has been rapidly building up its investment portfolio since operations started in January 2016. To strengthen its portfolio management functions, AIIB’s Implementation Monitoring Department (IMD) is recruiting a Principal Portfolio Management Officer (PPMO) who will work closely with the Director General, IMD to ensure that AIIB’s investment portfolio maintains good quality and achieves the Bank’s financial, strategic and development goals. In addition to directly lead supervision and monitoring for selected complex projects assigned by the DG, IMD, the PPMO will cooperate with and provide guidance to IMD staff who are focused on project monitoring and supervision and will work across departments with the Bank’s policy and strategy, regional investment operations, risk management, financial controller, and safeguards and fiduciary functions.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the DG, IMD in managing AIIB’s investment portfolio:
Help proactively monitor the Bank’s sovereign and non-sovereign portfolio in terms of risk exposure and the achievement of financial, strategic and development goals.
Advise preemptively on project, sector and country issues which may impact the financial or developmental performance of individual projects.
Coordinate the development and operation of a comprehensive early warning system throughout the loan portfolio.
Help maintain active communication between IMD and Bank's senior Management and the Board on portfolio matters and provide relevant inputs for decision making and strategy formulation.
Help effectively manage the relationship with external stakeholders (such as borrowers, sponsors, co-lenders, counsel, advisers and agents) and internal parties (including regional investment operations, risk management, legal, policy and strategy, environmental and social safeguards, and finance departments), and ensure good communication with all to assess and implement the most appropriate course of action in any given situation, as smoothly as possible.
Help further develop IMD’s portfolio monitoring and management capacity.
2. Lead supervision and monitoring activities for selected complex projects:
Actively supervise and monitor financial performance, construction progress as well as operation and maintenance of large-size and complex infrastructure projects managed by IMD.
Analyze periodic financial statements and other project reports, monitor compliance with financial and other covenants (including delivery of reporting and other requirements) and develop an informed opinion about expected future project performance while identifying and updating risk factors.
Identify and provide early warnings to management about critical deviations from the original investment plan or newly emerging risks, while simultaneously proposing appropriate remedies and coordinating related activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Build strong and close client relationships through the supervision process and add value to the client company by drawing on their own experience and on AIIB resources.
3. Loop Portfolio “Lessons Learned” back into the investment cycle:
Be the focal point for lessons learned from portfolio management and project monitoring.
Spearhead knowledge and experience feedback loops from portfolio and project supervision to the origination teams and to Bank staff in general.
Coordinate IMD’s inputs to the Investment Committee’s project review process and help enhance the quality of the project financing structure and project documentation, including monitoring and reporting arrangements during project implementation.
Coordinate the development and delivery of knowledge products and activities (including staff training and knowledge sharing activities).
Coordinate IMD’s inputs for the development or updating of various operational Directives, Administrative Guidance, or technical guidelines.
4. Contribute to the digital transformation of AIIB’s portfolio management:
Coordinate IMU’s contribution to design, development and operationalization of AIIB’s agile portfolio management systems and ensure its efficient and effective functions as well as its integration with AIIB’s other IT systems.
Scout for and help introduce best practices in utilizing new technology for portfolio management and project monitoring and supervision from other international commercial banks or multilaterals;
Coordinate development/redevelopment and operationalization of nimble and effective portfolio management procedures that would fully utilize the benefits of new digital technology.
Requirements:
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in managing a portfolio of infrastructure project loans and equity investments.
Sound knowledge of credit analysis, project finance structuring, equity valuation, compliance, ESG requirements, and portfolio supervision through prior work at international finance institutions or large commercial banks.
Demonstrated ability to draw strategic and business insights from large sets of data and to formulate compelling and actionable recommendations.
Superior verbal communication skills in English combined with an ability to synthesize complex issues into effective oral and written communication.
Ability to collaborate with others and lead diverse teams while respecting and building on different points of view.
Previous experience in deal origination, project structuring and negotiation is a plus but is not a prerequisite.
Experience in Asia would be a plus (including Middle East and Central Asia).

Investment Associate / Analyst – Infrastructure Investment Department
AIIB’s Investment Operations comprises two regional teams, 1 and 2. Region 1 is responsible for South East Asia, the Pacific Islands, and South Asia (except Pakistan and Afghanistan), while Region 2 covers Pakistan, Afghanistan, Central Asia, East Asia, West Asia, Europe, Africa and Latin America. We are recruiting Associates/Analysts to join the Infrastructure Investment Department of Region 2.

Finance Analyst / Associate - Loan Management
The Loan Administration Unit under the Office of the Controller advises project teams and participates in the planning for disbursement arrangements, throughout an investment project cycle, ensuring consistency with the results of fiduciary assessments and compliance with relevant guidelines and procedures; reviews and approve disbursement requests in a timely manner; and assists with technical loan operation matters for private and public sector clients.
The Finance Analyst/Associate will work with the Loan Administration Unit and will focus on the Bank's back-office operations on its financial products (primarily loans, but also includes equity investments, guarantees and other financing products). The role is for a junior professional whose specialty area is in commercial and investment banking operations or an experienced professional with a specialty in multilateral development bank (MDB) sovereign loans.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities for Finance Analyst/Associate include but are not limited to:
1. Loan/Financial Products Management
Support the Senior Finance Officers from end-to-end with the preparation and maintenance of transactions;
Work closely with other departments, including Investment Operations, Treasury, Risk and others to ensure that critical fiduciary aspects of loans and financial products are fully considered when transactions are prepared;
Monitor disbursement arrangements to assess whether they remain adequate, and advise the project team of any needed changes;
Monitor daily cash activity with the Treasury Department; and

Close loans and financial products in a timely and appropriate manner together with project teams;
Monitor lapsed loans and take appropriate action accordingly.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, IT or related courses, and a minimum 2-5 years of relevant work experience in the field of banking loan operations, gained from prior positions with financial institutions;
Robust knowledge of loan administration over the life of loans;
Self-motivated and able to build internal and external relationships to ensure a seamless process;
Proven ability to work efficiently within teams and effectively communicate for results;

Accounting Analyst/Associate
The Accounting Analyst/Associate will be involved in various accounting and financial reporting functions for the Office of the Controller , particularly the preparation of financial reports and maintenance of daily accounting duties.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily accounting duties, complete general ledger operations in the financial system (SAP), assist with period-end closing, reconciliations and other financial accounting duties.
Prepare analysis of accounts as requested, administer accounts receivable and accounts payable, and account/bank reconciliations, etc.
Review and process expense reports, assist in preparing periodic financial statements.
Prepare financial analysis on transactional movement at the trial balance level as well as the portfolio level and compare against historical performance for management report purposes.

AIIB’s Investment Operations comprises two regional teams, 1 and 2. AIIB has appointed its first Chief Economist and is in the process of building a state-of-the-art Economics Department to support the operations of the Bank, contribute to research in AIIB's thematic priorities and new thinking within the community of multilateral development finance institutions. Candidates should display all-round capabilities in economic research and analysis.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Conduct economic research and analysis to better understand the impact of infrastructure projects, or review such analysis of third parties, in support of the Bank’s financing decisions.
Conduct economic research and analysis for AIIB’s publications for the development and review of sectoral strategies as needed.
Research and develop country profiles, including macroeconomic trends, policy context and infrastructure needs.
