Ofo is partnering with megastar Rihanna to help girls in Malawi

Got a ride that's smoother than a limousine

Love 'em or hate 'em for their pavement-clogging properties, the now ubiquitous Ofo share bikes seem to be here to stay. So is international pop powerhouse Robyn Rihanna Fenty, who also looks incredible in yellow (please see: that canary-hued Guo Pei pizza dress). Now, in the year of our lord 2017, both phenomena have met along an unlikely tangent which is hopefully going to bring about something really, really good for girls in Malawi.

The scheme was announced via tweet.

According to Teen Vogue, Rihanna has teamed up with the Chinese company to supply fleets of the sturdy bikes to underprivileged girls so that they can get to school quickly and safely. The first lot of the Ofos have already arrived in the African nation, with scholarships also being offered in conjunction with the singer's Clara Lionel Foundation. Currently, a meagre 8 percent of teens complete secondary school, with young women forced to drop out at a higher rate than their male peers.

Three cheers for Bad Gal RiRi, who in all honesty seems to be a total sweetheart.
