WEDNESDAY
Slava's Snowshow
TPAC. Wed 30 August - 3 Sep. 99-580RMB
Winner of the Laurence Olivier award in the UK, this production is a cavalcade of organised chaos and discovery. Immersing viewers in a dream-like world, Slava's Snowshow culminates in a breathtaking blizzard that leaves the audience literally knee-deep in snow - lots and lots of snow.
THURSDAY
The Royal Concept
Yugong Yishan. Thu 31. 150RMB; 120RMB (presale)
First attracting worldwide attention with self-produced hit 'D-D-Dance' - which introduced their Phoenix-like mix of pop-rock and electronic elements - Stockholm's indie dance-rockers The Royal Concept are known for their sun-soaked melodies, upbeat swing and uncontainable energy.
FRIDAY
Migas Terrace Seven-Year Anniversary Weekend
The Bar at Migas. Fri 1-Sat 2 Sep. Ticket tbc
Nightlife institution Migas celebrates seven years of off-the-wall parties with two days of celebrations. On Friday night, Boston DJ Kon plays a set filled with disco, funk and boogie classics, while Saturday night sees Migas all-stars Boflex, Nassdak and Yauman hit the decks.
SATURDAY
Felguk
Elements. Sat 2. Ticket tbc
Brazilian DJs and producers Gustavo Rozenthal and Felipe Lozinsky, better known as DJ duo Felguk, make big and gutsy electro-dance beats, then pair them with smooth Brazilian music. After dropping off the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ list back in 2015, Felguk returned after a particularly strong 2016, and are currently ranked at number 67.
Adam Hunter
4corners. Sat 2. 120RMB; 100RMB (presale)
After a bit of a summer hiatus, Comedy Club China returns with a bang, bringing native New Yorker and seasoned pro Adam Hunter to 4corners. One of the hottest young comedians out there today, Adam has been a finalist on Last Comic Standing, and made appearances on the Tonight Show and Chelsea Lately.
SUNDAY
Li Yundi and the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra
NCPA. Sun 3. 80-1,380RMB
Li Yundi achieved instant stardom when at 18 he became the youngest winner of the international Chopin competition, at a time when the world thought that the Chinese couldn’t play Chopin (suck it, world). He continues to capitalise on his win, this time by joining the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra for Chopin’s only two piano concerti.
