As one party ends, the National Party Congress begins
With almost 2,300 delegates currently in the capital, the 19th National Party Congress is a bit of a big deal. However, while there may be one helluva Party arriving in Beijing, authorities are putting a stop to any others.
Over the last week, numerous clubs and livehouses have been issued with official notices to shut up shop from October 15 to 25. So far, the list of venues who've officially announced their temporary closure include Mix Club, Sir Teen, Yugong Yishan, School Live Bar, Temple, Modernista, Dada, Nina, Lantern, Jianghu, Zhao Dai and DDC.

Additionally, the Farm to Neighbors weekly market has also been cancelled for the next couple of weekends, with all scheduled events expected to be postponed for a later date.

As for your plans over the coming week, the good news is that restaurants (with the exception of Nina) appear to be largely unaffected by the Congress. Between Mosto's one-off East-meets-West feast, Common Burger's latest pop-up at Jing-A, Hatchery's two-day artisanal brunch, the Hilton Beijing's annual Wine & Food Experience and The Bookworm's all-day brunch party (its last for the season!), there are plenty of ways to eat your feelings and drown your sorrows.
