Hatchery's hatched a new pop-up straight in from Tel Aviv

And it Israeli good

Just as we were finally coming to terms with a post-hummus world as Moxi Moxi was forced to admit defeat and close for the third, and seemingly final, time, our favourite culinary incubator has dived in to save the day.

Hatchery has just launched its latest pop-up and its all about foods of a Middle Eastern inclination, particularly those from Tel Aviv.

So as well as hummus, natch, we've got dip boards loaded with babaganoush, harissa, braised fennel, minty labneh (a strained yoghurt) and a creamy pumpkin and tahini number. Maybe we're just fiends for the dip, but the platter, which comes with either fresh flatbreads or dukkah-seasoned chips is possibly our favourite part of the new menu.

The rest of the menu has plenty to get excited about too, though. We particularly like the lamb kibbeh, which are made of minced meat and pine nuts encrusted in a bulgar wheat shell, served with a pumpkin dip. One of the (many) wonderful things about Middle Eastern food is the variety it offers for vegetarians – salads are by no means the weaker option when they come packed with pulses, grains, veg and more. But committed carnivores will happy to hear that the new Tel Aviv menu doesn't leave them wanting: the meat mountain, for example, does exactly what it says on the tin. Lamb chops, chicken shawarma, beef kofta meatballs, roast cauliflower, salad, breads and dips all somehow pile onto a single plate, designed for sharing but hats off to anyone who can demolish it solo.

As with all things Hatchery, this menu is available only as long as the pop-up sticks around. Thankfully, though, they've also launched a new favourites menu, featuring the most popular dishes from concepts gone by. So if you're hankering after a Mayan Bowl from Soul Bowls or a plate of Mighty Mo's clams, now's your chance to taste them again.
