Combat the cold with these wonderfully indulgent cups of cocoa

From whipped cream-topped to over-the-top creations, we've tasted our way through Beijing's richest cups of cocoa to help you through these frosty winter months. When you’re hunting for something to warm you up, wrap your icy fingers around these mugs of hot chocolate courtesy of some of the city's best cafés.

Village Café's DIY Hot Chocolate Bar

A DIY experience from start to finish, this bev is made right before your eyes as hot milk is poured tableside over French chocolate spaghetti. Then, for complete customisation, it's over to Village Café's sweets bar which includes a spread of sugary toppings from marshmallows to crumbled cookies. 58RMB.

Café Flo's Chocolate F

From their sunny Sanlitun patisserie, Café Flo’s rich cup of cocoa is garnished with juicy chunks of fresh orange and chocolate syrup making for a classic winter combination. 38RMB.

Comptoirs de France's Cinnamon Hot Chocolate

Ganache meets milk for this creamy cup of cocoa (the same that’s used for Comptoirs de France's popular chocolate ganache cake). Opt for the bakery's cinnamon version; with a sprinkling of wintry spices, this drink is like Christmas in a cup. Available at all Comptoirs locations and via delivery. 36RMB.

Jiang Mai Tang's Hot Chocolate

Stirred up to order, Jiang Mai Tang melts three types of chocolate to make their signature chocolat chaud which arrives as a set. A carafe of thick velvety cocoa is accompanied by cream and vanilla and cinnamon sugars and is big enough and rich enough to share. 65RMB.

Botany's Black Forest

From plush apartment bar Botany, the Black Forest resembles a spiked hot chocolate but it’s so much more than that. Here the single malt whiskey base is combined with hot jasmine tea, the smokiness of which perfectly mirrors the alcohol’s aromas. Dark chocolate and a dash of cream turn it into a deeply naughty evening treat. 110RMB.
