Beijing's first snow of winter brings sub-zero temperatures
Measly snowfall levels bring cold comfort as Beijing freezes
Beijing's first snow of winter has finally fallen, bringing with it plummeting temperatures and another cold weather warning from authorities. Over the course of this week, temperatures during the day are expected to vary from -6 to a positively balmy -2 on Sunday, while nights are predicted to hover around -12.

Lasting from Sunday night to Monday morning, Beijing's first official snowfall has been somewhat less than impressive. Dubbed 'too light for a snowball fight' by a senior engineer at Beijing's weather observatory, this season's snowfall has resulted in less of a powdery playground, and more of a blink-and-you'll-miss-it flurry of frost.

Reality:
It's been a particularly dry winter, with Beijing's first snowfall of the season typically expected around November 29. Despite the abundance of cold air and freezing temperatures, low moisture levels have lead to this year's delay in snow. Here's hoping any future snowfalls aren't also given the cold shoulder.
