Beijing voted third most liveable city in China
Pipped to the post by Shenzhen and Shanghai
The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences' Chinese Cities Liveability Development Index Report has named Beijing as the third most liveable city in China.
According to Xinhua, Shenzhen, Shanghai and Beijing were ranked as the country's top three most liveable cities. The Index Report measured how 287 major Chinese cities fared across five categories: entrepreneurship and innovation, social management, economic development, ecological environment and residents' livelihoods (standard of education, affordability of housing, access to medical care etc).
Shanghai, perhaps unsurprisingly, scored poorly in ecological environment, but ranked within the top three cities in terms of economy, innovation and social management.
So, pretty good news for Beijing, especially after our somewhat underwhelming placing in the recent Time Out City Living Index. Bummed to be behind Shanghai again, though.
