TimeOutBeijing 2019-04-12

3 days, 7 stages, over 100 music acts. Here's everything you need to know

After being unceremoniously cancelled last year, Modern Sky's Strawberry Festival returns to Beijing with another three-day bonanza of live music and outdoor revelry. Despite the fact that it clashes with China's first-ever Grammy Festival (time to make a choice, people), this year's lineup features an absolute bumper crop of international and local acts. Read on for all the deets to this year's fest.

When is Strawberry Festival Beijing?

Strawberry Festival is held over the Labour Day holiday – so this year from Sunday 29 April to Tuesday 1 May.

Where is Strawberry Festival Beijing?

Not quite in Beijing, actually. This year's Strawberry Festival is set to take place at Yuyang International Ski Resort, a ski resort in Pinggu district located about 70km northeast of Beijing's city centre.

Who's playing at Strawberry Festival?

Who isn't playing at Strawberry Festival? With over 100 artists performing across seven stages, this year's lineup is absolutely brimming with some of indie music's best and brightest.

Leading the international charge are English indie rock band Alt-J (above), along with Brooklyn-based psych-rockers Habibi, fellow Brooklynites Liars, Japanese outfit The Fin and more. On the homefront, perennially adored Beijing rockers Casino Demon and Wuhan-based emo-rock foursome Chinese Football represent some of the absolute best in China's underground music scene. Take a look at the full lineup below to see all the acts taking part in this year's Strawberry Festival.
