Hear Beijing's best bands on Maybe Mars' new 10-year compilation
Listen to the highlights of the influential Beijing label's first decade
Last year, pioneering Beijing indie label Maybe Mars celebrated its first decade with a series of shows and events. Now, they've released a 38-track compilation celebrating the releases they've brought into being since 2007.
As we looked at in our music issue back in November 2017, the label has been a driving force behind the Beijing music scene's growth ever since their early days, housing some of the city's – and wider China's – best and brightest artists.
Rightly, all of those leading lights feature on the release, including driving post-punk act PK14 (led by the label's CEO, Yang Haisong), alongside fellow stalwarts Carsick Cars, Chui Wan and the ever-excellent Wuhan synth rockers AV Okubo. There's also slots for some of the label's more recent signees, among them the exciting punk bunch Dirty Fingers, who released their debut LP at the end of last year and recently supported The Cribs on the Shanghai leg of their China tour.
