Win a six-course tasting menu for two at Migas Mercado

TimeOutBeijing 2019-05-16

Paella, suckling pig and more feature on the Spanish stalwart's new menu

An absolute fixture of Beijing's dining scene, Migas Mercado has earned a well-deserved rep for its tasty Spanish bites, epic CBD views and fairly raucous Saturday nights. With the temperature dropping though, they've launched a new winter menu filled with a whole raft of hearty, and frankly, delightfully calorific, dishes to get you through the colder months. And for one lucky Time Out reader, we're giving away a six-course tasting menu for two valued at 916RMB!

To win, simply share this blog on your WeChat moments with the text 'Time Out Beijing, I want to try Migas Mercado's new winter menu!', then send a screenshot of your moments to our WeChat account (TimeOutBeijingEN), along with your WeChat ID and phone number. Entries must be in by midday on Saturday 24 November, and the winner will be notified by Sunday evening. The winner can choose any time to enjoy dinner at Migas from now until January 31 2019 (except public holidays). For a sneak peek of what you could get to try, read on.

Fifteen new dishes feature on Migas Mercado's new menu, running the gamut from starters, mains, paella (it's basically its own food group) and dessert. Here are a few of our picks to help get you started.

Chicken and black truffle meatballs

Truffle on Beijing winter menus is definitely a Thing. Some might say too much of a thing, but we'd counter that Migas' chicken and black truffle meatballs get the balance right. Forget your basic meatballs with spag bol, these are cooked for three hours, letting the truffle infuse the mild chicken. Served alongside a pâté, cheese and a mushroom soup, it all sounds like it would be too much – yet isn't. 148RMB.

Roast Spanish suckling pig

Migas Mercado's suckling pig is basically just a huge slab of roast pork – and all the better for it. Made with imported Spanish pork that's slow-roasted in a charcoal oven for 12 hours, the pork is, deservedly, the star of the show. This one only needs the relatively simple sides of creamy mushrooms and grilled artichoke to be a knockout. 248RMB.

Serranito 2.0

One of Migas Sanlitun's (may it rest in peace) most popular dishes, the Serranito makes a comeback this winter. Grilled Iberico pork is accompanied by smoky pepper purée, aioli, tomato bread and ham flakes for what's a jazzed-up, CBD-appropriate version of the much-missed classic. 218RMB.

Migas Mercado Seventh floor, China World Mall, 1 Jianguomenwai Dajie, Chaoyang district.

 Open 11.30am-1am daily.
