Workers of Beijing, take note: Just in case you haven't already heard, the State Council of the PRC announced last week (Fri 22) that the May Labor Day holiday will be extended from one day to four consecutive days, from Wednesday 1 to Saturday 4 May. The holiday's two make-up working days are now Sunday 28 April and Sunday 5 May, which means that unfortunately, the actual number of working days in April and May remains unchanged.
'What's with the sudden adjustment?' you might be thinking. A spokesperson for the National Development and Reform Commission said that the change was in response to a public plea, where many expressed the desire to either travel or visit their families across the country during the holiday.
The Government has also included a plan to help make travel easier during the especially crowded period, but we still say get to planning that holiday ASAP as there's no avoiding the insanely crowded train stations and airports during holiday times.
