Great Wall Festival 2019
Mutianyu Great Wall. May 18-19. 720RMB (two-day pass).
One of Beijing's best outdoor festivals returns with a killer line-up, including Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann and Dave Clarke. There's a 5k fun-run before the festival starts, while the actual party kicks off in the afternoon, with three stages packed with local talent including Eric Lee, Ou Yang, Huang Weiwei and Shen Yue. Festivities will continue well into the evening so go prepared for the long haul.
Rye Music Festival
Changyang Music Theme Park. May 25-26. 450-800RMB.
Rye Music Festival is back at it again, bringing another round of stellar international and local artists including Scottish shoegazers The Jesus and Mary Chain, Aussie duo Angus and Julia Stone (pictured) and Taiwanese pop stars Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai.
Yinyang Music Festival
Jinshanling Great Wall. Jun 7-9. 438-638RMB.
Acclaimed music festival Yinyang returns for a sixth year this June. No word on headliners yet, but expect a jam-packed schedule of live performances, visual art projections and even yoga classes taking place over five different stages. For those who want to grab some sleep at some point during the festivities, camping and hotel packages are also available.
MTA Festival 2019
Tianmo Nature Scenic Area. Jun 29-30. 280-520RMB.
Returning for another year, two-day music fiesta MTA Festival takes over Tianmo Desert this June, this time with local icons Higher Brothers, Re-Tros and Omnipotent Youth Society leading the charge. A desert rave featuring music, technology and art (that's what MTA stands for, in case you were curious), dedicated festivalgoers can also camp out for the entire duration.
