Celebrate the German festival with these beery happenings in town


Beer and autumn – two things that complement each other, and there's no better way to celebrate both than with Oktoberfest. Whether you’re thirsty for a pint or looking to fend off the impending chill, head out there this weekend and raise a stein to a number of boozy festivities in Beijing that’ll keep you warm and partying in style

Jing A has launched a special autumnal brew to make this Oktoberfest a cosy one. Prost to their new Über-Jing Oktoberfest Lager, a full-bodied, toasty Oktoberfest lager brewed in German Märzen tradition that offers a taste of the old world. Head to their brewpub and taproom in Fulongsi or Xingfucui this weekend to grab one liter steins of their new fall beer for just 80RMB, and fill your tummy with plenty of beer hall favourites on offer.

Enjoy a special Oktoberfest menu at Brotzeit that’ll bring you a taste of Bavaria. Aside from their normal fare of roast pork knuckle, fried pork schnitzel and freshly baked pretzels, try Steckerlfisch (158RMB), a classic Oktoberfest dish that features an over-roasted fish on a stick, and overload on protein and carbs with their sausage tower with pretzel (148 RMB), and Bavarian duo (168RMB), a meaty platter of white Sausage and baked chicken fillet with potato salad and pretzel, as well as Munich meatloaf in a bun or pretzel hot dog (68RMB). And did we mention two hours of free-flow with four draft beers and house wines to wash down all the food (158RMB)?

Paulaner Bräuhaus. Oct 11-27. 6-11pm. 498RMB (dinner)/290RMB (Sunday brunch)

Join Paulaner Bräuhaus as they kick off their annual Oktoberfest this Friday with classic German cuisine and free-flow homemade Paulaner beer, plus a blend of other authentic Bavarian experiences, from yodelling, sing-alongs and dance-longs to entertaining performances by the German-native Alpine Bavarian Band. Festival-goers are encouraged to come dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing, dirndl or lederhosen.

To get the festivities going head to Miam Miam for traditional German dishes, including pretzels (12RMB), pork knuckle(238RMB), sausage platters (118RMB) and more, and sip on discounted bottled and drafted beers offered by Slow Boat.
