Try this: Fly without wings at Beijing's indoor skydiving spot

The sky is (not) the limit for thrill-seeking Beijingers

Here to cross an item off your bucket list is Flying Experience, the first indoor skydiving facility in the capital. Located at Shine Hills in Shunyi, you can experience the novelty of skydiving, without leaping out of a plane.

Flying Experience’s wind tunnel is a glass cylinder with a propeller at its base, moving at sufficient speeds that create a cushion of air that well, blows you away. Once you’ve outfitted with a flying suit, helmet and goggles and all brushed up on the do’s and don’ts, a certified instructor will guide you into position, and grab onto your flying suit, keeping you centred as you’re buffeted upwards. 

Once you’ve gotten past the jitters of floating metres off the ground, it’s a fairly relaxing experience as you angle yourself to catch the wind to stay aloft. For the more experienced, or with sufficient air time, you can learn to do flips and other acrobatic manoeuvres. 

Flying Experience also offers other programmes such as VR and simulators. The latter is quite an immersive experience in itself, where you get to pilot a fighter plane and take the battle to the skies (you can ditch the safety equipment at this point) or drive an F1 car and floor it around the track.

While you don’t get a sense of danger being in a tightly controlled environment, it’s still quite an adrenaline rush when you’re suspended midair.
