[AD] Top-class comfort and convenience at Cordis Beijing

TimeOutBeijing 2020-11-03

What is it:

A new upscale lifestyle concept by Langham Hospitality Group, Cordis, Beijing Capital Airport is conveniently located in the heart of Beijing Capital International Airport, with five-star amenities located just six minutes from Terminal 3. The opening of its third establishment in China, following Cordis, Hongkong and Cordis, Shanghai Hongqiao, the Beijing branch boasts both luxury and comfort, offering relief and retreat for both travellers and locals alike.

After undergoing two years of refurbishment, the hotel has upgraded all 269 guest rooms from presidential suites to high-grade rooms, with each room featuring large floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Terminal 3. Its meeting and event facilities are no less impressive, with eight elegant and high-function rooms, designed to suit every needs from business to leisure. The most luxurious one is a 1,200-square-metre pillar-less banquet hall, which boasts a roomy entrance that allows vehicles to drive inside.

An array of wedding venues and packages also offers an abundance of choices for future newly-weds. Couples can celebrate their big day with banquet menus with different price options and styles, various wedding themes from outdoor weddings to poolside ceremonies, as well as a five-star bridal dressing room, and on-site wedding specialists available for hire.

Why go:

Featuring a light grey and beige white colour palette, its airy, bright interior is soothing, and further enhanced by the hotel’s own specially crafted scent that smells like a mix of sweet orange, grapefruit and lemon. The design is effortlessly chic and stands out with a touch of Chinese history and culture. Guests can feast their eyes on its collection of art displays that give nods to Imperial China, from the rarity of Thangka, which are Tibetan Buddhist paintings that are listed as intangible cultural heritage of China, to local porcelain displays and elegant furnishings at Ming Court, its signature Chinese restaurant.

At Ming Court, you can journey through the Silk Road in an elegant atmosphere created with warm wood and sleek grey palettes, or feel regal in its four semi-private dining rooms that are named after the emperors of the Ming dynasty. To create a modern Chinese aesthetic, the restaurant utilises ample woodwork carvings and furnishings in the dining area, and Chinese potteries in the hallway.

Meanwhile, treat your tastebuds to some of the capital's best à la carte offerings, which is an equal to its Michelin-starred namesake in Hong Kong. The menu serves up a range of Chinese cuisines from Beijing specialities to an exhaustive menu of Cantonese dim sum, and an equally exhaustive drink list with 70 types of wines and champagnes, as well as premium Chinese liquor and international craft beers. As you eat and sip on drinks, take in the views from its large floor-to-ceiling windows, which overlooks a serene lake park as planes whizz past in the backdrop.

What makes Cordis a cut above, is perhaps a host of state-of-the-art amenities that offers luxury and convenience in equal measure. Aside from a fully-equipped gym with a heated indoor pool that also comes with a hydraulic massage pool, frazzled visitors can pamper themselves at Chuan, an Oriental-style wellness facility that offers tailored-made TCM-based therapy. After relaxing, they can eat their way through the world at Market, an all-day restaurant that features an open kitchen in the form of live cooking stations, which are helmed by international chefs. Those in the mood for western fare can indulge in expansive buffets and à la carte menus, and wash down the food with drinks served at its two bars, Bites and Tune.

On top of it all, Cordis offers a heartfelt hospitality, perhaps befitting its term’s meaning in Latin – ‘heart’, which is manifested in every aspect of their service. In the lobby, a number of counters and signages enables busy fliers to complete flight check-in before checking out, as well as keep up to update with their live flight status. There are also ATMs for currency exchange, free shuttle buses to the airport available 24/7, and an even robot helper alongside their friendly, English-speaking staff to assist guests.

We say:

Offering convenience and comfort that’s hard to beat and in respect of the capital's culture, tradition and vitality, Cordis Beijing is worth a stopover itself, either for those with layover in Beijing, or locals-alike who are after a staycation in the city. Its regular weekend thematic brunch, parent-child theme party, sunshine pilates, water yoga and more should also suit families.
