Over 100,000 Didi drivers in the city have been inoculated over the weekend, as mass vaccine rollout continues
100,000 Didi drivers in Beijing have been given doses of the covid vaccine over the weekend, according to the ride-hailing company, after multiple reported cases of drivers around and outside the city sparked concerns and prompted the scanning of riders' health status before using taxis and ride-hailing services in the city.
'From Monday 18, drivers who have received the vaccine will be marked as vaccinated on Didi; and those who haven't must present a negative nucleic acid test result valid within the last seven days to pick up passengers,' reads an official statement on Didi's WeChat account.
From today on, you'll be able to see your driver's health and vaccination status shown on the app (though only seems to be in Chinese for now)
Just over half of a month into the mass vaccine rollout launched on January 1, Beijing, a city of 21 million, has since inoculated a total of 1.7 million as of Saturday 16, state media reports.
In a bid to minimise the risk of infection for the upcoming CNY, the capital is moving fast to ramp up vaccination for key frontline workers. Many of whom have been on the priority list for receiving the vaccine jabs.
By Monday 18, 80,000 more parcel delivery drivers and food couriers are expected to be vaccinated, according to a city government announcement on WeChat today.
