Beijing United Family Hospital's

Department of Emergency Medicine

   Professional Team and Barrier-free

   Communication

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics is the place to come for most common emergencies. Our department stands ready to treat major trauma and critical illness, as well as minor illnesses and injuries. Our 24-hour full-service Department of Emergency Medicine is staffed at all times by highly-experienced physicians trained in Western medicine. Our Emergency Department has multiple in-house specialists, including a pediatrician and obstetrician, 24 hours a day. For patients in critical need, we have a team of neonatologists and adult internal medicine specialists, as well as the latest NICU and ICU equipment. Our nurses, trained in providing emergency care, speak fluent English. A 24-hour translation service is also available for patients needing communication assistance beyond English and Mandarin.

   State-of-the-art Facilities

Our Emergency Room is equipped with state-of-the-art, life-saving equipment to handle emergency situations. Like all our facilities, the ER is international standard, meaning it is comparable to those found in the United States and Europe. We have the capability to care for the most serious emergencies with immediately available, on-site radiology and imaging services, laboratory, and pharmacy services available 24 hours a day, including a rapid state-of-the-art CT scanner with 3D and angiography capabilities, X-ray, and latest generation ultrasound. If necessary, we have blood available for transfusion that has been triple checked to ensure your safety. Our ER has a 15 bed capacity, with an expanded three bed resuscitation space for combined injuries, strokes, acute heart attacks, adult and pediatric cardiac emergencies; an ambulance entrance, negative pressure rooms, and special entrance for fever patients. Each of the eight patient rooms are private, while a monitoring station for nurses ensures the highest level of care for all emergency patients. Negative pressure rooms and the fever entrance are ways of keeping potentially-bad microbes from spreading outside the room in which a patient is first seen. In fact, our ER was designed by our own emergency doctors specifically for our facility, making it unique and ideally suited to Beijing city emergencies.

How to Contact Us | Our ER Location

Our 24-hour Emergency Hotline is 5927 7120, with ambulance services also available. You can speak with a doctor who will give advice and determine the urgency of your situation. We can coordinate ambulance services for you through our partners, if needed.

BJU's Emergency Room and Pediatric Emergency Room are located at 2 Jiangtai Road, Lido. Emergency services are available at the United Family Shunyi Clinic during clinic hours (8:30 AM to 7:30 PM), seven days a week. If you find yourself in an emergency situation and you don't know where your nearest emergency facility is, don't worry – just call the BJU ER hotline at 5927 7120 and they can help you figure it out.

In some cases, Beijing's traffic and language barriers may mean that getting into a taxi or calling a Didi on your phone may be the fastest way to get you to the hospital. However, you should only do this if your situation is not life-threatening. Are you bleeding profusely? Do you think you’re having a heart attack or a stroke? Have you injured your head or spine? Are you unable to walk? In these cases, it’s best to get an ambulance. Not sure if your condition is life-threatening? Don't worry – just call 5927 7120 and they can help you. This 24-hour hotline is manned by our English-speaking ER receptionists, who are trained in coordinating emergencies.

   Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and

   First Aid Training

Sometimes, first aid care or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is needed in cases of severe emergencies. If you’ve ever thought about becoming certified, or knowing the correct way to provide chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, plus are interested in learning how to manage common injuries and illnesses, then CPR and First Aid classes may be right for you. For this reason, Beijing United Family Hospital and Clinics offers comprehensive first aid training and CPR/Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training for individuals and organizations in Beijing. Courses can be tailored to suit your organization’s needs and we can also organize ACLS courses for medical professionals.
