A pretty big update and promising news for those of us rolling up our sleeves in anticipation of getting a COVID-19 jab. A post on WeChat from Beijing’s Foreign Affairs Office revealed today that foreigners in Beijing will be able to apply for vaccination from now on. The shot administered is a two-dose, China-developed inactivated vaccine.
It should be noted that while no exact dates are given as to when the vaccine roll-out will begin, it is suggested that foreign residents would receive a notice and be able to make an appointment through their respective employers or residential community offices. After the appointment is made, applicants may receive the jab arranged by their local district authorities.
On jab-day, applicants are required to bring with them – to their allotted venue – a mask, valid residence permit and passport. You’ll also need to sign a letter of consent upon arrival and be given the all-clear from a doctor before receiving it. The vaccine will cost 93.5RMB per dose unless you have Chinese social insurance (for which it’s otherwise free).
