Little Catch Has A New Location and It's BIG

ShanghaiWOWeng 2018-11-27

Little Catch, a charming and powerful name in Shanghai, just had the soft soft opening of their new pokecafé just off West Nanjing Lu. However, Little Catch is not little anymore. It’s now a vigorously busy business where excited people are enthusiastically queuing. Their new venue is maybe 10 times bigger than the first one on Wulumuqi Lu. More space, more fun, more possibilities. So what’s new?

Don’t panic, classic signature Pokes are still here, with some new discrete alternatives such as the Salad bowl base, or the fresh tofu extras. The Dynamite Salmon a florilegium of textures, savors and colors, is just as delectable as usual.

What makes the Poke really exciting this time around, is that restaurant goers have the ability to customize their Poke. Want grains, rice, salad base? No problem. Want unctuous Salmon, crispy shrimp, munchy octopus? Yeah you can have that too. Choose from 7 kinds of sauces including sweet, salty, spicy, creamy, and some others. The finale: all the add-ons you can pick: Onion, Fried Garlic, Scallions, Green beans, Cashew, Mushrooms…  For a minimum of 60 RMB you can create a fresh, healthy, and unique perfect Poke.

There are a few other surprises as well, most notably: bagels! Here again you have the choice between the signature and the customizable. Have a try to the Crab cream cheese, which adds a creamy, salty citrusy touch.

Final feature: fine raw seafood dishes and a few snacks are added, giving Poke Cafe a bistro facet. A bar is in the works as well so you will now have the possibility to enjoy some white wine with oysters ( ½ dozen for 168 RMB, which includes the wine). For a bigger appetite you can try a seafood platter with every treasure the sea contains: Salmon, Shrimp, Octopus, Salmon row. Few delicacies shine as bright as the bagel chips or salmon roe topped guacamole. If that doesn’t make your mouth water you may want to check your pulse.

Most of you know about Little Catch, but not many know the story behind it? Little Catch is owned by two energetic, and radiant Singaporean sisters, Wen and Jia. They have been in the fish business for a long time before they opened their first outlet on Wulumuqi Lu. Foodies who came over asked frequently why they can t try some recipes with their favorite crustaceans, prawns and scallops. It gave a new dimension to Little Catch. Wen and Jia tried to figure out how to maximize their fan delectation in an original way. The challenge was to serve something easy, healthy, and fun , with a seafood base.  Poke, a Hawaiian finger-licking raw fish salad, was the perfect solution.

Located in the same building as Naked Hub, but on the second floor, their new shop is open daily from 11.30 am to 8 pm. They’ve been flirting with the idea of serving breakfast, but no nothing confirmed yet. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on that.
