SMALL ARMS BIG HEART



Recommendations: Espresso, Iced Wine, Latte




Just the name of the store should give some indication of their attitude and philosophy. It’s a small space, but it’s cosy and decorated playfully with dinosaurs. We’re thinking it’s the perfect place to snuggle up on a cold autumn day!

MANNER COFFEE




Recommendations: Latte, Mocha, Flat White


This may be the smallest coffee shop in Shanghai considering there’s not a single seat, just a low-key takeaway window. That doesn’t stop hordes of customers though, who come for the inexpensive, yet high quality coffee.

Aunn Cafe & Co. is a newer coffee shop that recently opened in Jing’an Metro station. It consists of 4 floors, each designed to promote a different aspect of coffee.

DOLPHIN CAFE



Recommendations: Flat White, Latte



Dolphin Cafe’s flat white is renowned for being one of the best in Shanghai. They pride themselves on using only Japanese Asahi milk, giving all their coffees an intense sweetness to match the rich creaminess.

LANNA COFFEE

Lanna Coffee proudly owns its own coffee bean farm, so all the coffee you drink here will be completely unique from anything else you try in Shanghai! Their mission (besides serving great coffee) is to promote fine Yunnan coffee.

YUAN SHENG COFFEE

Yuan Sheng Coffee has been named the place for ‘Taiwain’s best handmade coffee’. As well as having all the classic drinks, they also have a variety of sweeter flavours, perfect if you fancy a little something for dessert when you’re in a rush!

SUMERIAN



Recommendations: Kyoto Iced Drip Coffee, Cappuccino



As you may expect from a boutique coffee shop, the price is slightly higher than the average coffee. However, it has a great location along Shaanxi Bei lu, making it a popular especially amongst foreigners. Their specialty is the Kyoto Iced Drip Coffee.

CAFE BEGONIA

Cafe Begonia doesn’t offer any wild or wacky coffee variants, instead they choose to focus on quality and taste of the simple Guatemalan coffee beans. If you just want coffee without the bells and whistles, you’ll love it here.

ONE MORE CUP

One More Cup is hidden away in the old downtown area of Shanghai. In addition to coffee, one half of the shop is lined with bottles upon bottles of beer from all around the world. Popular makes include Bundaberg and Hoegaarden from Germany.

PHENOMENAL



Phenomenal is a combination of Taiwan and Seattle coffee, which gives it a completely unique flavor. Aside from stellar cups of joe, they’ve got some pretty amusing coffee names!

And Coffee is the perfect place to escape the hectic surroundings of Wulumuqi Lu. The interior decor is light and airy, making it the closest you’ll get to fresh air in Shanghai. Of course the coffee’s great too!
