Movies to Get Excited For in 2017
It’s impossible to predict all the crazy things that might happen in 2017. When it comes to movies though, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect. Here’s a list of films we can’t wait to see in 2017, whether on DVD, streaming or in the theaters.
JANUARY
Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

It’s hard to believe it, but this 14-year series is finally coming to an end this year with their final chapter, expected to be the craziest one yet.
T2 Trainspotting

20 years after it’s original release, 4 Scottish punks reunite as Mark Renton (Ewan McGregor’s character) attempts to make amends for his past acts.
Renegades

Cast: J.K. Simmons, Sullivan Stapleton, Ewan Bremner
Produced and written by Luc Besson, Renegades stars a group of Navy Seals who found hidden treasure in a lake under the small town, and the drama that followed thereafter.
xXx: The Return of Xander Cage
Release: 20 January 2017 (America)
Cast: Vin Diesel, Donnie Yen, Samuel L. Jackson, Kris Wu
Vin Diesel is back as Xander Cage, and this round, he is up against antagonist Donnie Yen in this action-packed series. The film also stars up and coming Chinese actor, Kris Wu.
Underworld: Blood Wars

Cast: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Tobias Menzies
Continuing her fight against the Lycans and the Vampires, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) is back for a new instalment of fights and battles in the Underworld.
FEBRUARY
Fifty Shades Darker
Release: 10 February 2017
Cast: Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson
House wives everywhere rejoice, the sequel is finally here. A continuation of the hit film, Fifty Shades of Grey, Anastasia attempts to get over Christian Grey who wants to win her back so he can do a bunch of weird shit with her in his sex room as the two meander through poorly written dialouge.
Lego Batman Movie
Release: 10 February 2017
Lego Batman is a batman, made of legos. Watch in delight as he goes on a journey of self-discovery, working with friends to save Gotham City from The Joker.
The Dark Tower
Release: 17 February 2017
Cast: Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Abbey Lee
Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the film tells the story of 11-year old Jake who stumbkes upon another dimension, Mid-World, and sets out to finish a quest to save the dimension from being destroyed.
John Wick: Chapter 2

Cast: Keanu Reeves, Ian McShane, Bridgey Moynahan
Hitman John Wick is back in action after a former associate wanted control over the guild. The hit movie once again stars Keanu Reeves, and is directed and writted by the same director and writer of the original John Wick.
MARCH
Wolverine: Old Man Logan

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart
Logan is back, in what’s billed as Hugh Jackman’s final apperence in the role. This time, he must protect a young girl, Laura, whilst defeating Reavers, a group of criminal cyborgs. The film will be R-rated, thank god.
Kong: Skull Island

Cast: Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson
Skull Island is set in the 70’s and follows a team of explorers as the discover a new island with a huge secret: an unrealisticly enormous gorilla who is attracted to normal size human women.
Beauty and the Beast

Cast: Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans
The most anticipated Disney film of the year, this is the real-life adaptation of the 1991 animation film. Relive your childhood and belt out to your favorite Disney tunes.
Ghost in the Shell
Release: 31 March 2017
Cast: Scarlett Johansson, Piou Asbaek
An absolute classic in both the science fiction AND animated film world, Ghost in the Shell has been remade in live action. The film stars Scarlett Johansson as Major, commander of Section 9 who is up against Hanka Robotic’s AI tech. The original Japanese manga version was released in 1995.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Set in the 15th Century, the film revolves around the legendary King Arthur and his adventures.
Power Rangers

Adapted from the world renowned Japanese superhero cartoon, Power Rangers will follow high school student Jason Lee Scott as him and his friends fight to save the world.
Smurfs: The Lost Village

After directing Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Matt Reeves is back directing its sequel. Changing up the plot, the film will follow Caesar as he battles himself and the humans in a war that will affect his species and the planet.

The cast is back after a disastrous box office performance in 2015, despite bombing it was actually a good movie and we’re excited for the sequel.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets

A dream team cast and crew for this blade runner sequel, which takes place 30 years after the original. We are most excited for this one.

Writers of Piranha 3D and Sorority Row, Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger’s latest script will be directed by James Wan, and will bring gore and horror to a new level.

The Croods 2

Thor: Ragnarok
